Zoro is not Sanji, forget there is any link between them combat wise.
Why would Zoro need plot armor against King?
I never said Zoro would solo Kaido so I dont see where is the problem.
The problem for Sanji is obvious - King is a swordsman, one hit and he is dead.
Do you want Oda to dumb King down that much that he never lands a single hit on Sanji?
Where is the fulfillment from such a fight? You can claim that Sanji defeated a YC1 and that's it?

It's not just what i want, it's what is more probable at this moment.
They already had more interaction than any other strawhat-enemy couple (except for Ulti and Luffy maybe, but this manga is Luffy centric by itself) and i doubt Oda would lose his time building up matchups that are not going to happen.
And the quartet Marco, Perospero, Sanji and King have much in common.
Sanji is not ready alone but with a part of Luffy luck...
That's just the best option for both, King vs Zoro would be boring and Sanji and Zoro vs King disappointing. The other option is Sanji and Zoro vs King and Queen but i think it's more probable that while King is occupied with Sanji, Marco and Pero, Queen is going to fight Yamato to defend Momo.

We don't know how much or even if he is weaker than King. He probably is but Zoro needs to save some energy in his body to help Luffy.
The simplest that comes to my mind is a hotter DJ but FS or something related to CoO or CoA would be good too

It seems like Sanji's suit and his arm strength is protecting him a bit as they are in the air. You can see cuz if King pierced him, Sanji would bleed but there is no blood
