Davy Jones was said to eternally walk the seafloor. Zunesha's legs are so long that he does that, he walks on the seafloor, since the Void Century. Obviously Davy was a human, not an elephant, but perhaps he was somehow turned into an elephant. For committing a crime, Zunesha was sentenced to walk the seas for eternity, presumably by Joyboy. Davy Jones though was said to be cursed by the Devil. Sounds like a contradiction, Imu and not Joyboy is the Devil; keep in mind though that the Celestial Dragon's call D-Clan members devils.

I don't think it's possible. Zunesha was already revealed to be a Naitamie-Norida elephant (SBS Vol. 83), so it's obvious that there are (or were) more individuals of his species. In addition, even Jack's fleet could seriously hurt it (if not for Momonosuke's permission, it would've been killed)... I doubt that such a legendary pirate would just comply with his sentence and let someone like Jack blast him.
