You would be surprised how many clubs forbid westerners the entry, how many shops put special prices for westerners, how many old people in japan miss WW2 era and just how many Japanese are blatantly racist towards everyone not Japanese - especially Koreans and Chinese.

Most people think of Japan from what we know of Manga, but very little know just how many problems Japan has internally from suicide rates, depression, racism, overworking and xenophobia.

Hell Japan still denies WW2 shit, that pretty much sums up stuff

Yeah ofc, Japan is not all sunshine and roses. There are some glaring society issues. We expect Japan to be all “bowing in respect” and “arigatou” etc but there are some issues which won’t make them look so Kawaii. Like scamming foreigners by taking them to shady bars/pubs, trying to cult foreigners in some strange/unheard religion, racism, fat shaming etc.

But such things exists in every society in some extent. There’s not a single place where one can say there are literally no problems.

They approach foreigners, lure them to a bar/club and then force them to buy overpriced items or drinks or to give them money under the threat of violence.

Yeah, some Japanese can be racist against non-white people. A lot think having a white skin is a symbol of purety.
