Yeah ofc, Japan is not all sunshine and roses. There are some glaring society issues. We expect Japan to be all “bowing in respect” and “arigatou” etc but there are some issues which won’t make them look so Kawaii. Like scamming foreigners by taking them to shady bars/pubs, trying to cult foreigners in some strange/unheard religion, racism, fat shaming etc.

But such things exists in every society in some extent. There’s not a single place where one can say there are literally no problems.
Every state has Problems yeah

But what they have is much more than Problems

You would be surprised how many clubs forbid westerners the entry, how many shops put special prices for westerners, how many old people in japan miss WW2 era and just how many Japanese are blatantly racist towards everyone not Japanese - especially Koreans and Chinese.

Most people think of Japan from what we know of Manga, but very little know just how many problems Japan has internally from suicide rates, depression, racism, overworking and xenophobia.

Hell Japan still denies WW2 shit, that pretty much sums up stuff
Like any country there are some sections that are racist to foreigners. I think If you had to compare the racism in some western countries to Japan l would say it's prolly significantly less. While it has it's flaws like any countries, Japan has safety going for it( apparently It's amongst the safest country in the World) and as American I think that a major draw to go there.

Also from what I heard, more than likely a lot of folks there sometimes don't want certain foreigners around some areas cause they're not comfortable around them. On paper it might sound racist but it more complex than that.

This is true, not much violent crime unless you happen to be around Yakuza.
I'd take people giving me weird looks + safety
over people accepting me as a foreigner + constant threat of gun violence any day.

I've heard that many of these "anti-foreigner" measures stem from many western tourists being noisy and drunk. They want to keep the Logan Pauls out:suresure:

I just hope Korea and Japan aren't too racist to foreigners
You need to understand Japan and Korea is very monoethnic. Average people rarely see someone that doesn't *look like* them. Almost all different people are foreign workers and students. Ofc there'll be some big Racism because most lack experience living *with the other* but remember Average people always nice, they'll learn and be nice. If it's diverse society it's different issue. The Japanese culture have strong emphasis on pride and blood line etc. Ancestor worship is a thing since Ancient times. The fact Imperial Japan was the only non western country that able to match top imperial westerners is huge achievement and source of pride regardless what they've committed. So, people who defeated it can seen as scarred Japan in some eyes of society.
It's just how things is.

Eh on what basis? No restaurant or club here would ever deny entry to a white/black/asian and we are freaking Balkans lol

Japan has deep roots when it comes to racism and xenophobia that stems from WW2 era - hell i could draw the line from Meji era but ww2 is enough. Japanese always viewed themselves as superior to everyone else, even above germans and italians.

Japanese treatment of Chinese and Korean even today is subpar at best, on the surface it may seem cool but deep down they view them as citizens of second class.

But, granted not everyone is like that, exceptions to the rule exist everywhere. But there is no denying Japan isn't on the level of western countries - even USA.

I would still visit it, but I wouldn't ignore the fact big chunk of people there will look down on me and swindle me just bcs i am not Japanese. Not even asian - not Japanese.

( apparently It's amongst the safest country in the World)
What do you constitute as safest?

Homicide rate? In that regard yeah they are low

But how about sexual assault? That is a different story my dude

It's just how things is.
Just because it is so, doesn't make it right

As long as they treat White, Black, hell even other Asians as beneath them it is shit
