Since there's no point in discussing their actual battle

let's talk about their characters. Which character is the better written one? Which character do you enjoy more? Why?
You can talk about their designs, powers, etc etc, basically any comparison will do.

Katakuri is by far the toughest obstacle Luffy has had to overcome thus far, and even then, our protagonist would not have survived half as long as he did without several degrees of plot armor. He’s proficient enough in CoO to see into the future, his CoC is also very strong :kata: and his mastery over a Paramecia DF is such that he not only Awakened its powers, he’s virtually wielding it as a Logia instead. He cares about his family, respects enemies he sees as worthy of it, and figures to play another important role in Luffy’s ascension later in the story.

That being said...Crocodile has been around way longer, is an *actual* Logia user with insane capabilities, held his own at Marineford (while helping Luffy out somewhat unexpectedly), still has an unresolved mystery or two attached to him, and should also be a key participant in the Final War. Ultimately, I think I have to give it to the former Shichibukai.

Katakuri is without a doubt a great character on his own right. However, Sir Crocodile of former Royal Shichibukai has far more character development and is a well fleshed out character. Even Oda himself like to draw him every now and then to show us how important his character is. Katakuri on the other hand, has received no further character development than what he had been first potrayed as.

agreed. Crocodile would stomp.
then on the other hand. Katakuri is not a character so this discussion is one sided as well.

Which character is the better written one?
Crocodile. he and Mr.1 had a very sinister vibe arround them.
cold, calculating, cunning and purely malicious. on top of that a sadist.
the front he put up to keep his Shichibukai status and the way he made a puppet out of the entire kingdom makes him the best villain to date imo. Doffy comes in second because he only managed to do so with Sugars major hax.
Crocodile was what a villain should be. someone you wish to be taken out.

Which character do you enjoy more? Why?
I do admit that Katakuri was an enjoyable character at first. still not as much as Crocodile.
its again an unfair comparison. Katakuri lost all credibility and previously build up hype by going complete fan mode on Luffy. that was very unncessary. you can have the villain respect the protagonist without him throwing all of his previous ideals out of the window. the justification that they were fake to begin with may satisfy some, but to me its just utter nonsense writing.
completely unrelatable.
Crocodile was solid start to finish. he never broke character. not even in ID arc. he was always the same.

I like characters whos actions are relatable. characters that act rationally. with a goal that they do not give up on.
all the villains that let themselve get talk-no-jiutsued like Kata was are trash.

You can talk about their designs, powers, etc etc, basically any comparison will do.
Design: Crocodile, obviously. Katakuri is the leather vest guy from Village People with a scarf instead of a head. weird.
Power: Suna is hard to beat. together with the no-holds-barred poison hook. his toolset reflects the character.

Suna is one of the coolest fruits in the verse. A logia that not only produces sand or lets the user turn into the element, but can somehow also dry the landscape or objects and living beings.
this makes the fruit sort of special (maybe Caribou with hammerspace too).

tried hard to not shit on Katakuri too much.
