watching the film 5 years after reading the manga only reminded me how depressingly miserable Shinobu's fight against Douma was, although the film made Shinobu's moves look a bit more flashy. Looking back, as soon as she entered the room, she sadly had no chance to beat him which piled on with the fact that she had been planning for years to avenge Kanae's death only for her to die within minutes in real time without being able to do any meaningful damage and without being able to see out his death while alive.
During the manga chapters 5 yrs ago, I legit was tearing up reading about her death but watching it yesterday, I just felt exasperated lol.
At least Yamato and Yor (both also voiced by Saori Hayami) are still alive and kicking? 😅
Also Akaza's backstory in the manga didn't move me that much but seeing it animated actually made me tear up a bit, also thanks to Katsura lol

also this is the 1st time i have been to a movie theater in 20 yrs after my local movie theater 10 min away from my home closed down in 2004-2005 (closest one near me now is 55 min). my new work place has a movie theater 10 min away (walking) that I can now go to reliably

Just saw the movie. Bro I swear kids are goofy as hell lol. How many people did Akaza kill? 6 Seveeeeeehhhhh
No Spoilers Ahead:
I think this was a smart move by Ufotable. It really did cover a lot in its 2 and a half hour run. mmm
Part 1 I only teared up for Akaza's backstory right before he got turned into a demon
Part 2 and 3 are going to mess me up for sure though lol

Lots of weebs are cringe normies. Saw the movie in theatre too, lots of howling and laughing

On topic though. Great movie. Animation was clean, and Akaza was GOATed. Wasn't some scam like the earlier movie.
fortunately my movie theater was mostly silent outside a few gasps at Shinobu's death

What you mean by that? Because anime in the big screens are a thing for so long. That Chihiro movie was the first I can remember that made a huge success and it was so long ago.
Unless you mean like cannon manga chapters turning into movies instead of simply TV episodes.
If I'm correct DBS was also the first one to have people going to movies and even stadiums? To watch the cannon episodes.
in the US, it's almost impossible to get anime films in actual theaters (especially subbed) outside of Dragon Ball to get queued / added over other mostly live action American films that are currently playing.
One Piece has only been able to get Stampede and Red in the past but this year Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle Part 1(thanks to Mugen Castle) and Chainsaw Man Reze is coming in the next week or so. The only anime films to my knowledge that has actually been able to break into most physical US theaters (despite increased media exposure of anime in the US, it is still considered taboo at times with Gen X and prior, especially discussed in-person)
