At that point even Oda didn't know
But nah sword is a secret oraganizatiom probably only 1 high ranking marines whether it's Garp or Kuzan knows and leads them
Well thinking back on it Akainu has to know as well
Drake wanted to go back to the marines and that would be impossible without Sakazuki taking him back
Now i'm actually starting to believe that the Kuzan/Sakazuki duel was a lie
Akainu is the leader of the sword
I think ''SWORD'' is only k own by the fleet admiral Akainu and Aokiji is the lead in the organisation.
The discussion Akainu had with the Gorosei regarding Aokiji was weird and brushed off; I can't beleive someone like Akainu with his absolute justice and who knows the strength of Aokiji for having fought him would let it go like he did.
Same with his remark to Kizaru : ''we don't know the strength of the samurai'', makes no sense unless he knows Drake is on a mission and doesn't want to but in.
Kizaru and Oda didn't know and i still don't expect Kizaru to know. Revolution does not go along with his character, it would with Akainu who Kizaru then would choose to follow.
Hmm, ok, that's possible. But I don't think there's enough info about SWORD to just say it's a "good guy" group, I think it's just a secret force (secret from the people it's spying on, not secret from the marines) that is part of HQ and is known to key people such as the admirals, Brannew, etc...
We first learn that the black den den mushi is used to intercept calls, and we see it being used by a marine.
Then we see Kizaru's black den den mushi, again being used by a marine.
Then we see Drake using a black den den mushi, and there is a clear emphasis on this den den mushi, it has its own panel essentially. So I think Drake being a spy for the marines is something that has been set up since his creation.
And if you even go back to the Kizaru-Drake dialog: Kizaru makes the "mistake" of calling Rear admiral drake, then asks him if he's just "scouting" the other side. Which ends being exactly what he's doing.
It really just sounds like a conversation between Kizaru and his subordinate.
Then if you go back to chapter SWORD reveal chapter, Drake tells Koby (another member of SWORD) that Big Mom and Kaido are now teaming up and Brannew repeats the intel to the rest of HQ without revealing Drake's name since it's "top secret".
So unless you think that Akainu is fine with lower-ranked marines randomly receiving intel and telling this intel to HQ, I think it's pretty clear that SWORD is something known to him and other key marines. I don't think it's this group led by Aokiji and only has the "nice" marines and is gonna start a coup or something.

Great anyalsis! I also like to point that after the conversation between Kizaru and X-Drake in the panel with Hawkins you can see he had a question mark as he had no idea what they talking about.
I don't think he knew at that time.
Reason is because SWORD is supposedly a top secret Navy org.
Only people who needed to know (possibly head of navy and head of sword) would know his identity.
other people don't need to know this, even if he was an admiral.
he definitely knew.
if Drake really was a marine deserter then Kizaru would have offed him without second thought.
he had a friendly chat with him and let him test the pacifista. in hindsight it was very obvious.
