Did he retcon the classes or is it a mistake?

Tbh considering how they still haven't been able to decipher the logia,it doesn't make sense. Not too many chapters have passed since Vegapunk told us that.

Unless somehow in the series timeline in the past they thought Mythical zoans are the strongest because they are the rarest. It doesn't make sense how he is flip flopping.


Did Oda decide to change his tune because he is going to introduce more and more enemies with Mythicals? It certainly seem that way .

He opened the can of worms with the mythical of Luffy,so he thought he will have more freedom in the powers of Mythical Zoans .
In comparison there aren't a lot of powers to explore in Logia.

Iirc the only thing Oda said that we noted is that Logia is rare and the famous 5 flying type DF.

The average Logia is generally stronger than Zoan and paramecia, however, Mythical Zoans are a subclass and in this particular sub class the average fruit is better than a logia. Mythical Zoans are extremely rare and make up only a very small percentage of Zoan which is why you can claim Logia as the strongest class overall because exceptions aren't the rule. The Gura Gura was stated to be as good as a Logia power so it's not like it was a rule that some Zoans or Paramecia couldn't be comparable or superior to Logias

Dunno. It is perhaps interesting to note however that Oda has revealed awakenings for Paramecia and Mythical Zoan fruits before he has revealed an awakening for a Logia. Could be a case of saving "the best till last" as it were.

Given Saturns DevilFruit?/Transformation, mythical zoans might be better than Logias. They lowkey have the attributes of all df classes

1. Kaido - base zoan dragon, random paramecia side ability to lift islands, can also conjure magma and nuclear fire
2. Luffy - nika zoan, rubber paramecia, bullshit reverse intangibility to come inside ppl, pause
3. Marco - phoenix zoan, healing abilities, near intangibility with invincibility
4. Yamato - fox zoan, random bs defense shit, conjuring ice (like logia)
5. Sengoku - Buddha zoan, shockwave blasts like paramecia, light beam shit like logia

Not sold on this theory but could reveal an internal class w/in Mythical Zoans

I don't think so, i think it could also refer to Kaido's DF being among the strongest DFs.
Which is not new to me since it is, we saw it's pretty damn strong in Wano, and it's one of the 4 strongest Zoans so far with Luffy's, Saturn's and Sengoku's.

Anyway we have seen the powers of 2 Awakened Mythical Zoans ( Luffy & Saturn ), but haven't seen any Logia Awakening in action yet.

This is true with the other Gorosei very likely having Awakened Mythicals like Saturn, ( and maybe Imu ? ), however Logias could be very prominent as well in the future :

--- the Marines having 3/4 of their strongest as Logias
--- the BBP = Teach and Kuzan
--- the Revos : Sabo, Karasu, and Dragon most likely has Wind Logia imo

Also Kizaru very possibly has Awakening which can only be revealed after Saturn's this arc

Oda just does what he likes. Look at what he did to Katakuri's DF, it was supposed to be a logia at first but was "rectified" to special paramecia in the volume version of the manga. It's still as good as a logia though, so it doesn't really matter if it's a paramecia or not, it's in the "strongest class" too.

Likewise, the mythical zoans receive a lot of hype since Marineford, so they could just be on the top shelf alongside the logias too.

Yes and no.
The classes remain the same even if there are fruits which stand out.
The same is true for every other DF class.
There are paramecia that are extremely powerful while others are weak. The Gura is very strong, the Nagi not so much. There are similar fruits with different levels as well like Kilo and Ton.
Smoke logia has no additional properties that would increase its offensive ability compared to Magma, which burns, or Ice, which freezes.
Some Zoans grant fangs and claws while others turn you into a Buffalo. Not all fruits are equally strong.

DF are already magical. They grant abilities that should not exist.
Mystical Zoans grant the magical abilities of the mythical creatures they represent. It is not different to regular Zoans once you accept that magic in OP simply exists.
There are even races with special "magical" abilities.
Mystical Zoans won the Zoan lottery. Plain and simple.

Nothing changed. Logia are still the strongest class. Lava, ice, darkness, light, lighting, forrest... these are all op powers. The only zoans that can match them are azure dragon, nika and maybe daibutsu. Then we have phoenix and wolf mythical that are impressive yet limited. All the other mythical are just glorified ancient zoans. In logia class every single power is at least pretty good. Even the weakest ones like moku moku and numa numa are still stronger than mythicals like orochi, onyudo and kitsune. Logia still reign supreme. That being said, if the 5 elders are all zoan users then everything change.

It seems like he did, Mythical Zoans are much, much rarer and I don't think it's a coincidence that the Gorosei and Imu have Mythical Zoans when they could've easily gotten a logia if they wanted to.
