Perhaps thats why Teach knew he needed Darkness DF to handle them by canceling their power, thats why his only chance to become King of the World is Darkness so he could cancel their Hax, even though Teach has Ad.CoC still its not enough.

It would also make sense to me why the fruit is portrayed as so powerful despite haki being able to counter most other DF powers.

Lowkey we know that Im places Luffy and BB level of threat at the same point. In his very intro he destroyed BB and Luffy bounty posters. That imo is an hint only the 2 of them can be a menace to him. We now know everything about the Nika/Sun god stuff but still have nothing about BB and the fact he can actually hurt the gorosei could just be the tip of the iceberg (he at least can hurt Im, who for sure has better abilities than the gorosei) ending with the black/dark/night version of Nika.

At least you brought the line from Chinjao I didn't knew it existed. He basically confirmed Teach as CoC user and the one with potential to become Pirate King. But he said nothing about CoC not being enough.

It would be kinda pointless for the immortality if the Yami could negate it after the fact.
The Yami would negate the yokai abilities of the Gorosei, but I don’t see a reason why it should affect their immortality.

The elders resemble the five plaents Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn.

The Yami Yami no Mi resembles the very thing that can devour and crush these planets, a black hole.

Teach canceling Gorosei regeneration might even go beyond the concept of Yami just canceling another devil fruit (if Gorosei's immortality is even DF-based).

It might be because the Yami is like Rikudo chakra, an ancient source of power that can harm Imu and his subjects.

Yami and the undying flame the ancient robot may utilize could be the only two things capable of dealing long-lasting damage to Imu and the elders.

People think Darkness DF is for replacing other stats like Haki, but its the opposite. Without a top tier Haki and physical stats, this DF nerfs the user, it doesn't give any defensive power like other Logia, so the DF cancel ability is very important for Teach for some reason even though he has top tier Haki and physical stats, he didn't prefer defensively save Logia abilities.
