Ryuo is what samurais call haki. They learn haki to add it to their sword. Haki is a foreign word to Wano citizens. To be able to add haki to a sword or any weapon you have to know flowing haki. Just ability to release or flow haki from your body.

It was a combination of barrier Ryuo/haki and physical strength.

Based off the trajectory of the hit I disagree. The way it was deflected in such a wide area makes barrier haki very likely.

Zoro has had that level of barrier haki since FMI. Not just a coat his swords with it but to extend it from his body.

This confirms Zoro used haki against Hakai. This doesn't mean he didn't also use physical strength either.
