Powers & Abilities Do you think Oda planned haki since chapter 1 ?

#48
Knowing how it works and how it was introduced and modified during the series is a good way to analyze if Oda had Haki planned or not at the beginning, which happens to be the title of the thread. :P
Knowing it's Role in the Story is enough & we know that it's a Power made to counter DF Users
It's obvious that Oda created Devil Fruits & Haki together, that's why he created Logia & didn't hesitate to introduce it Early

Author creating a story where he imagines Roger or Shanks using Kairoseki to be able to fight a Marine Captain from East Blue is too ridiculous

Maybe it's possible he decided to name it "Haki" later on & created Three Types for it & thought about other Advanced Techniques & Uses .... etc but the concept of a Power that can be used to fight DF users is obviously planned since ever

It's everywhere in other Manga anyway. Like Nen & Ki & Chakra ... etc

He introduced Logia early, gave 4 ways of fighting them.
Counter Element. (the third Logia we saw, Ace, was defeated because Magma>Fire)
Kairouseki. (Appeared together with Smoker, the first Logia we saw, put in his Jitte. He was trapped inside the Kairouseki cage in Alabasta. So Kairouseki works against Logias).
Gimmick, like water for Croc, or rubber for Enel. (The second and fourth Logias we saw)
And he also introduced the Yami Yami no Mi.

4 ways to deal with Logias that don't rely on Haki were introduced.
But sure, he created CoA as soon as he created the Logias.

Yes, I think he always had a base idea, but took a long time to finally decide it. As others said we had Zoro's moment in Alabasta and Mantra in Skypea. Also Crocodile had a fishy line when Luffy hit him in the third round.
Teach was already talking about Luffy's haki in chapter 234, then we had mantra, next Marco talking about Shanks' haki and Luffy's CoC awakening + all the things from Sabaody till the Rayleigh's explanation.
Again, took a long time, but it's a logical progression for haki first hints before It got proper introduction.

By the way haki was introduced pretty early in the story, Pre TS in fact despite only explicitly later, this would suggest that this fact combined with the one that Oda is known for his precocious genius-showing (he thinks of stuff much earlier than the factual time he portrays them) make the odds of haki being a thing since chapter 1 time pretty high.

If his master said that is haki then it was but he never mentioned it. If Oda intended for this to be haki‚ it would have been mentioned.
I mean I think it's already spelled out for most readers.

Koushiro says "there are swordsmen in this world that can cut NOTHING" and Zoro even follows up by saying the Breath of all Things is "to convey one's will through his sword..." all in the Daz Bones fight.

Fast forward roughly 750 chapters and you see Hyo say "Haki must be a foreign concept... In Wano too, there is an invisible power that stems from the body and can be infused with the blade. A good Katana will cut through steel when you want it to and it will not break a sheet of paper if you do not wish it so! It is all according to the desire of the swordsman!"

The simplest and most obvious conclusion you could land to is that they are describing the same concept, which is Ryuo/Haki. Something Zoro was using all throughout pre-time skip to cut steel.

If he was‚ why didn't he cut Aokiji‚ Enel or Crocodile ?

Why does the army of the "strongest man in the world" insists in shooting regular bullets on a bunch of Logia Admirals?

Wasn't Pekoms who said Logias are not that impressive for people in the New World, later?

Very good and well thought out system.
Sure it is.
Nothing retarded about it at all.
