It was ridiculous how we couldn't know basic things regarding Haki like whether enhancement or emission was the advanced armament until 300+ chapters after Luffy's training during the timeskip.

Maybe Haki then didn’t refer to what it does now . Haki “Ambition” could just be like “willpower aura” or even strictly CoC potential.

Haki is Ambition. Blackbeard had it and could sense it in Luffy.. Blackbeards perception over Luffy's non-perception. I've already said where it's hinted, if you don't like it I can't help you, it is what it is.

Not necessarily, Haki was necessary to A. Touch logia users and B. Diversify combat in tha manga. Without it, we’re left wit tha stronger or strongest characters being people who got exceedingly lucky in life and everyone else being bland or unlucky wit no way of evening tha playing field out. Haki was necessary do cull this

What Oda HAS failed at to this point, is explaining Haki and its limitations. As well as tha consistency of Haki(all 3 types). Perfect example, Luffy is a FS user yet still gets snuck up on and surprised, tho CoO is THEE most inconsistent ability in tha manga

haki is power higher than DF but badly explained and used as only plot armor and conveniently forgotten when plot demands.
making downplay of many characters
