Just a comment, Oda already did this kind of retcon before, and it was for Shusui. In Monsters, it's just a regular blade, but for the 103 Mercies Dragon Damnation (supervised by Oda), Shusui is a black blade already.

P.S.: I don't think that Nusjuro has a black blade, at least for now.
True but Monster was published before One Piece started, While when One Piece started Nas Shodai isn't a Black Blade (at while we had Mihawk's Yoru being a Black Blade on Baratie Arc
He could've just left Shusui as it was though. It didn't need to be a black blade by then, as Ryuma doesn't seem to be in his prime yet.
I think he is entering his prime since he got epithet of "KING" at that time

Yeah, he was already hailed as "King", but that bum Cyrano was considered a first-class swordsman too... and with his further One Piece's development ("God of the Blade", "Ryuma was an one-eyed swordsman", etc.), he could be very well still improving (he at least faced an opponent who was able to give him that scar). It would be nice to see a "normal" Shusui in 103 Mercies Dragon Damnation.

I remember that in the past people thought that Kokutou Yoru ("Night of Black Light", something like that) was the full name of the sword, not just Yoru (Night). After Shusui appeared, then people started taking into consideration the black blade concept (but I remember that by Marineford the name Kokutou Yoru was still used by a few scanlators/fansubs). I'm not sure if the black blade concept was already developed by the Baratie Arc (or even by Thriller Bark Arc, as haki coating was a thing just after post-skip), it could just be a black-colored blade. (Just like Shanks couldn't defend from the Lord of the Coast using CoA or even CoC coating while he has shown CoC in the same chapter... haki was probably just an idea back then.)

(Well, I'm just playing devil's advocate here, Oda does retcon a few things, sometimes in the timeframe of a dozen chapters. E.g.: Katakuri's DF was a logia at first, but was retconned to "special paramecia" in the volume release.)

@Shiroyru

If Venus is meant to be Zoro’s final opponent, then Oda has written himself into a wall by having them clash now.

Now that Zoro knows about Venus, saw his blade, and clashed with his haki — he should have a general sense of where Venus stands power-wise. Especially if they go on to clash even more in the upcoming chapters.

This means that if Zoro believes Venus to be stronger than Mihawk, he will go into the Mihawk fight knowing it will mean nothing for him and knowing that he won’t actually be the WSS even if he wins.

So it’s either Nasjuro has been disqualified from being Zoro’s final opponent, or even if he is Zoro’s final opponent he won’t be stronger than Mihawk.
zoro's goal is to be a swordsman who reaches the heavens, not worlds strongest swordsman. mihawk is not his final goal
