I wonder why such a big secret is kept around Doflamingo's eyes. We've only seen one eye of his in his flashback so far. His sunglasses were destroyed by Luffy. What irritated me was that later, when he was talking to Tsuru, he suddenly wore sunglasses again. Why would the Marine put new sunglasses on him when he was arrested? That doesn't make sense. I see only two explanations:
1. His eyes reveal something that the World Government wants to hide. Maybe there is a connection to Im, who has extremely unusual eyes. However, Doflamingo's eyes look normal.
2. The simpler explanation is that Oda just wants Doflamingo to always be a bit of a mystery character, or because the sunglasses are simply characteristic. Also Sir Crocodile suddenly had his golden hook again in Impel Down, although Luffy destroyed it and it is actually a weapon and therefore he shouldn't keep it in a prison. But then why did the sunglasses have to be destroyed at all?
Still, I think it would have been better to reveal his eyes on the Marine Ship. He was defeated and his reign ended, so it would have been a good time to demystify him completely.
