They were shown fighting in cover pages way after little garden. Not only did Oda offscreen the resolution of their fight which one of them should've lost but it was also a fight to the death.

My issue is it was a fight to the death. Also that Oda just offpaneled its resolution.

It does say the God of Elbaf decides who lives. If neither die, then it looks like they were both right.

Would be pretty hilarious actually if they ended up measuring the bones, and it turned out both Sea Kings were the exact size.

Whatever the case may be, there's a reason they stopped fighting, and I doubt after 100 straight years, it was because they just decided it's been long enough, and it's time to go home.

I truly dislike the way Oda handles plot threads lately, he mostly offscreens shit and then explains things later.

The problem is this tendency of his has left us with more questions than answers and we are seemingly nearing the end of the manga. Its just bad writting.
