Yeah, but it makes sense. But still I would prefer that he would be an antagonist again.

Yep. I hope the next few chapter will be better.

Raws and summary of the next chapter is out. Thanks to Space and SanZaiTen.

Summary:
:seriously:

Hiro is walking downstairs if I had to politely give you my opinion on his writing.

I still cope that everything goes too well and we will get some cool bang but chapters like this one don't help the case...

Yeah, I don't this too. Xeny should be evil and Shura too.

Dr. Müller should be dead.

Somehow I don't like all of that.
I was telling you this since everyone was alive already.

Bro. Drakken being turned into somewhat of a good guy is a red flag...
Yeah I don’t like the current arc
Void is the only good part
Mashima fumbled hard and made many wrong decisions BUT there’s still a lot of potential
We could get a great final arc (I hope so at least…)

Yeah, sadly I hoped it would be better. At least that with Drakken was hinted since his first battle in his arc.

But I also said that Hiro wrote the ft enemies better, not only the bosses but also the servants of them. Here in EZ most of the servants were boring a fuck. :josad:

Tbh even Void is only okay so far. We had a Void character with Ziggy. Imo this the enemy should be Rachel and her cult or an alien and not a robot again.

Xeno not evil is kinda disappointing :josad:
Yeah. I hoped he would be evil.

@Boris D. Foot @Seth @Cross_Marian

Imo it's okay that some changes happened, like Kurenai is a good mother or something like that.
But to many of the old enemies are good now and thats boring.

Imo the only one who should be good are, Drakken and Kurenai and thats only because they were once good before they turn to the dark side. But even that is only..."okay".

But Shura and Nero are too much.

Plus imo the changes of U0 story should be more difficult than that what Hiro wrote so far.

Example: neither Jinn nor Kleene are part of Drakken organization. All 3 new characters should be alien characters.

Jinn and Kleene should be part of Holys team.

Valkyrie should be one of the OSI

All of the OSG members should be part of different races this time and not only robots....thats lame.

Some old crew members shouldn't be part of the crew again , like Rebecca. Imo Rebecca should be part of Rachels cult and this time she is the enemy and the last member of the crew that will rejoin.

Neros empire should be much bigger than the last time, with 12 oceans members instead of 6. Some characters of the old universes are part of them like the old boss of Oasis or Creed or Laguna or so.

What Hiro made is boring-okay....nothing special even if the idea is good.

This whole U0 arc hasn’t been that great to me to be honest. I’ve liked Void and the design but everything feels it’s going to smoothly. I hope Rachel and the church come into play soon.
Imo the main problem isn't U0 itself it's the way how Hiro wrote the arc and the whole story so far.
There have been good arcs like Drakkens and Aoi cosmos war arc. They had a lot of good moments like Shikis death. Even after this arcs they were good moments like Ziggy=Shiki etc.

But I think the main problem with EZ story is that Hiro never expanded the world building.

This will be a rant about EZ.

We have a really big universe but we barely know something about it. So far Hiro only focused on the story of the crew and on the conflict between humans and robots. Plus he only showed us a little bit about the whole groups in the universe.

I will put it in parts.

Part 1: The IUA and their elite the OSI

The OSI: they were 6 strong fighters who are the counterparts of the OSG. All of them had their own fleet, but Hiro never used them. Example Victory and Creed two core members of Justices crew and so far we never saw them in a real fight nor were they important for the plot. Same thing with Justice he was the commander of that fleet and one of the OSI and still we never saw what he really can do and his story was also really boring, his view of justice was lame too.

Sadly the same thing happened with the other OSI members.

Jaguar was the strongest one and Hiro let this guy die without to show any feats or to do important stuffs. Hiro also doesn't give his EG a name lol.

Next problem is Holy, she was one of the better wrote characters so far and I really like her and her part of the story. But what I missed is that she never had the chance to do something big against Crow or Cure. She doesn't can use overdrive and her EG is boring too. Instead to give her a magic/sorcery EG power Hiro gave here only a melt EG power....lame.

Next part of the Holy problem is here fleet, we know two core members but sadly we never saw anything of them. Why the fuck does she and the others have a crew?

Whats the point of the whole IUA if Hiro never showed them in a good way? We never saw other members besides the OSI, how many ranks are in that organization? Who is the leader of the whole organization? etc.

Part 2: The OSG and their "crews"

Same thing with the OSG and their "crew" members. Besides Drakkens crew and few members of the Nero empire we never saw other servants...thats imo also part of bad world building.

Even if we saw some members of the Nero empire there was a lot more potential but Hiro never used it, he rushed the whole empire. Best example are the Beast teams, there should be six teams each of the teams had 3 members and besides Beast team 6 we never saw the other ones, which is a shame because we could have a lot more characters, EG power or even alien powers if some aliens were part of it. We only saw a little part of the whole empire.

The elite team of the empire the Oceans were nice characters but somehow the hype about them was to high and in the end they were not so strong or good like they should be. Plus it was said there have been old members of the oceans like Fabiano it was but again we never saw them.

We could have a battle between Ziggys DS, Jaguars elite group (if he had one) plus Neros old Oceans members. While Shiki and his crew are fighting the new Oceans members who are led by Shura. But like I said before, Hiro rushed this arc/saga/cosmos a lot.

Part 2.1: The battle between Jaguar, Nero and Ziggy. First problem, Jaguar who was hyped to be the strongest warrior of the whole IUA plus the fact that he was a former member of the OSG, makes him really important and powerful, but what happened? He was killed per one shot. So Jaguar was out of that battle, but also in the battle between Ziggy and Nero we didn't see anything that makes them look good. What I mean is that we know that Nero was an alien, he can control/create water, he ruled the fucking water cosmos, plus had wormhole EG as a bonus. So why we never saw anything of that? The name of Neros race was never mentioned, is the water ability part of his race? Is it another EG power? Why he never used the water what flies in the cosmos? There was so much potential to make him one of the best characters.....

Part 2.2: Next problem were Crow and Acnoella. Besides the fact that both of them were robots and with Ziggys return we had 3 members who were robots. Is that really necessary? Both of them never showed anything what proof that they were planet crushers, we never saw attacks with name (a fact that I hated with Nero and Drakken too), we never saw anything besides some laser beams, had they even EG power? Plus their personalities were also really boring. What was the reason that Acnoella was the mother of Elsie? Same thing with Crow, what was the point that Cure is the traitor? For us readers it was lame, because we never saw that guy lol. Plus like I said in Holys part, she never had the chance to fight this guy in a real battle....so I ask again, what was the whole point of it?

Part 2.3: So now the last member of the OSG, Ziggy and his crew. Well tbh the 4 ds were boring too. Killer was the best one but still overall a boring group.

Ziggy was good, but his death and how he was defeated was really lame.

I hate the fact that he was a puppet of Void....

Part 3: The next big problem is the main crew itself. Besides of Shiki no one so far had a really good fight and most of them never played a big role during the whole arcs. Shiki is also the only one who has 100 forms. Some of the crew members like Laguna have never shown Overdrive so far and that sucks. I like Shiki but why is he the only one who can do something? It's almost like with OP with the one man show=Luffy and thats not good.

Part 4: Another problem imo is that the crew never explore the planets they visit. With that the world building would be much better, with more places, races, characters, villains etc.

As an example: What if Nero would have seperated the crew members with his EG power and take the E0 with him to his main planet. So the crew members must find a way to reach another and to find the the E0. On their journey to find the other crew members, they would make more friends on other planets, until they find each other again. Plus with that the empire could have shown more, with more members who ruled over planets etc.

Last part of the whole problems: the whole history of the universe, dark age, the EG power system, the 12 guardians of the sakura cosmos etc. Since the foresta arc we never saw anything of that again nor heard of it. It looks like that Hiro forgot all of that? He also forgot Labillia and Couchpo, well not that I want to see Couchpo ever again, but it's still dump of Hiro to make her a part of the crew, if he doesn't bring her back lol

I was so excited to see all of that, especially to see a female alien characer because Hiro is one of the best artists but so far he never draw an important female alien.

Thats imo the main reasons why EZ isn't so good like some people say. Yes, the story is good, with dark moments, good plot twist etc. But still there was so much potential that Hiro never used. Even now with U0...with that...he found a way to rewrite his story....but he makes the same mistakes again....

So far Edens Zero is my least favorite manga of Hiros big 3 works. (Fairy Tail, Rave and Edens Zero)

But the final saga isn't over now so maybe Hiro will do some good things what will make the manga better, with Rachel, the cult, dark age etc. But until this happened I will stay at this point.

I wouldn’t say it’s that bad yet, but the writing decisions as of the current arc have been questionable. If nothing changes, then it will definitely turn out that way.

To put it simply, all of the progress that has been made in the previous arcs feel kinda meaningless now. It’s like there’s been a reset, and so many things are different that it’s almost overwhelming.

We had just gotten the timeskip designs too. This sucks…! :catsweat:

Until recently, Edens Zero was my favorite work by Mashima.

Like, the developments, stakes, tension, and rewards, it was how FT should be.

Now we switched to literal FT tier writing and I am mad...
Yep. I agree from a narrative point Hiro wrote the story better. EZ was my second favorite until I read it again.

FT was and is still my favorite one even if the story writing is not so good. But there are elements what made it imo more fun to read.

After I reread Rave and EZ I came to the decision that EZ is now of the third place, from this 3 works.

The main reason were the points what I described above in the other post.

But to compare the different elements of the 3 works here what I liked and dislike about the works.

Story: Rave was the best one because everything was told in the story, all major villains had their moments and arcs, like the Oracion Seis almost all of them had their own arc. Even the time travel arc was very good. Only the final arc was rushed. But overall it was the best written story from Hiro.

After that, it is/was Edens Zero, because of the points you said.

Than FT, most of the FT story wasn't planned but even then there was a lot of thing that were good.

Fights&abilities: Well besides the fact that I love the setting more because of middle age theme and magic... Imo FT is the best one here. Not because the fights are the best written one, but because the balance between main characters and side characters is good. Plut FT has the best abilities, there are many different magic types and Hiro used most of them in a good way. Plus the powerups were good to, Lucy as an example. Many fights are bad written because of plot or "nakama win" but I think we readers allways forget that the main theme of FT is "friendship/emotion". So it makes sense that they win because of that. But still the fights could be longer and better. What also sucks is that the fights are to short and that sometimes we also never see attack names like in EZ and Rave.

But imo Rave fights were the best written one.

FT is only on place 1 because I like the whole different magic arts and because the balance between main and side characters is good. Many side characters had their moments and fights. Something I miss in EZ very much and in Rave too (at least the point with the side characters).

If we look at EZ Shiki is the only fighter, even if the most fights of him are good, it's boring that only Shiki has fights. Look at Homura, Jinn or Weisz, how many (major) fights had they? Jinn had 4 fights during the whole story and 3 of them were against Shiki at the beginning of the manga... and the last one so far was against his childhood friend form the Oceans during the Aoi war arc what was also not a very long fight and this fight was almost 3 years ago. Plus not to forgot that even if the fights are good, some of the enemies like Drakken and Ziggy were also defeated because of plot. But I think plot victorys are sometimes "good"/"okay", my main problem is that we never see the other ones or rather barely.

Characters: the same thing is with the characters overall, the characters of EZ are good and had good developments until U0. But still...like I said in the part with the fights, we allways saw Shiki, no one of the other had so much screentime or major roles like their counterparts in ft or Rave had. And thats something I really hate. Whats the point of Jinn, Kleene and Laguna to be part of the crew? Even Weisz had barely fights and good moments.

Tbh the side characters in Rave are good but we also saw them barely, something I also didn't like so much, but because of the story and the world building it was okay.

FT has the best balance between main and side characters, but sometimes I think there are to many side characters which is also not so good, but I prefer this than only see the main characters.

Villains: well again...the same thing. Most of the villains in EZ are boring. Rave and FT villains were much better and had a important role, like Shuda or Ultear.

But you're also right with that FT could be much better. I agreed with that and FT has also a lot of things that I hate, but at least the readers can see their favorite characters in fights or that they have a major role. Even if it's not so good written like EZ or Rave.

I agree that EZ has his good moments too. But it sucks that we only see Shiki and never the other ones and all the mistakes that Hiro made in the previous universes he make them again....I could cry, if I see how much potential EZ has/had and how Hiro used it. :josad:

Tbh, Rave Master is the best in terms of story for me.
I liked how EZ started, but at some point it kinda went downhill to me.
Both EZ and FT have some lovable characters and cool powers, but I'm tired of rehashed designs. So I'm most likely going to pass on next Hiro's work. I respect the guy for his working ethics and crazy productivity, but I kinda wish he'd team up with someone who can do an amazing story for Hiro, because at this point I sorta gave up on him.

I don't know if you know, but Hiro will draw a new manga this years. He said that this manga will be different from his previous works.

Maybe a new art style? or another genre instead of fantasy/shounen?
