Oda's probably a billionaire, if he has 5% of profits, which is inccredibly low, not accounting annual investments of that money at 3%, and tbh well done to him, he deserve it.

I just felt sharing this for anyone believing that his net worth is only 200m.

Thing is, he probably doesn't get paid royalties but rather a fixed amount for lending the license.

It is not more probable Oda receives a fixed amount. Royalties are industry standard, and whatever split Oda started on, it is probable he renegotiated.

Shueisha probably couldn't afford the lump sum they'd have to pay him.

It is extremely unlikely Oda is on the same contractual terms he started.

Even if it wasn't just about the money, there are likely a bunch of terms, clauses and conditions Oda gets that others do not.

Of course, we'd never hear about it.

Not that it matters too much since he already has enough money for 8 generations but If he's not a billionaire he will be eventually. This series has many more years to go and it will produce sequels, games, movies, novels after it's over as well. Oda will make money off this until he dies.
