Elden Ring

Elder Lee Hung

Conqueror of the Stars
More details:

-Apparenlty there are multiple bosses similar to Malenia in difficulty, not just one

-The Lore for the DLC was written by GRRM at the same time as he wrote the rest of the lore, but FROM withheld the DLCs lore aspects because they felt it deserved more focus outside of the base game. So this is in fact GRRM’s work

-There are 8 new weapon types, not 8 new weapons (holy shit)

-The story of this DLC not only focuses on what Miquella was doing in the shadow realm, but also focuses on who Marika was prior to becoming Queen Consort and prior to the Golden Order. Hopefully this will fill in a lot of the gaps in lore related to Marika and her connection to the Black Knives.

-Messmer is a confirmed Demigod, his lineage is unknown but it is a very safe bet that he is a child of Radagon and Marika

Well boys, I got a lot to say since I was banned, but to begin with the DLC looks amazing.

First, some highlighted parts from the Eurogamer interview.

https://www.eurogamer.net/elden-ring-shadow-of-the-erdtree-is-fromsoftwares-largest-expansion-ever

An area bigger than Limgrave, with denser and richer level design, multiple legacy dungeons (base game only has 6), and an overarching design that is something in between a legacy dungeon and an open area??

I was critical of a lot of the open-world filler in Elden Ring so this sounds like an absolute peak to me.

In particular, the hybrid open/legacy dungeon design sounds super interesting and as a description, it kind of almost reminds me of DS1.

Also 8 new weapon categories????? The dueling shield looks super cool.

I think the 10+ new bosses are bosses that give trophies (the base game has 30 trophy bosses). Since there's no way Miyazaki means remembrance bosses (base game has 15, no way the DLC has 10+) or overall bosses (Limgrave has 30+ "bosses" overall and it makes no sense for the DLC to be denser and have fewer).

I've got some lore speculations I want to talk about (I don't think Messmer is the final boss - he's the MC of the DLC like Artorias in the DS1 DLC and the old hunters in the Bloodborne DLC, but like them, I doubt he's the last boss) but Im gonna write that in a little bit since I need to get some images to explain my theory.

I had identical thoughts:

Messmer is like Lady Maria with Old Hunters imo

Even though they're the promotional character for the dlc and a "mascot" in a sense, they aren't the final boss of it
rtorias was the mascot even though he wasn't the final boss

8 new weapons categories is crazy, even though you'll probably only be able to access them very late game it seems like.

Bonefist and Crossbow look crazy, i'l respec just to experiment with them.

I wonder if they're experimenting with a fusion of legacy dungeon and open world like areas for a future soulslike game/Elden Ring 2.

how many of the bosses do you think we saw in the trailer? Out of the "trophy bosses"? I expect there to be a few boss reused/reskins which is common for Fromsoft dlcs

i can't wait for the dragon dlc fight

@TheKnightOfTheSea @Elder Lee Hung I saw you two discussing this so I'll tag you for my theory.

Gonna be a bit weird, but hear me out.

Behold, the final boss of the DLC:

At first, I thought this guy pulling a sword out of his head in a cutscene was not too major, but then I realized something.

He is the same character as this painting guy they show in the trailer that they slowly zoom in on.

Same emblem on his cloak, and the same cloak.

This is important because several important bosses in the base game were first shown in paintings.

What's more look at the object that is piercing through his head into his chest cavity. Does it look familiar?

That might be a great rune.

Now for more out-there speculation. Who is this character exactly?

We know that part of this DLC is going to explore Marika's past and how she rose to godhood.
I think this character has some relation to Marika before she became a god. Knowing GRRM's love for family drama, this may even be someone like Marika's father.

Another reason why I'm buying into this guy's stocks is that some old guy that we don't know about being the final boss unironically matches the them of a random slave knight being the final boss of DS3.

Three directly. One more indirectly.

1) The lion dance boss (obvious, also side note, this boss seems to homage both Sanctuary Guardian and Ludwig - big first from DLC boss energy).

2) Messmer (obvious).

3) Old guy in the painting pulling a sword out his head (see above).

4) We don't see a fourth, but in the shot where they show a tarnished doing martial arts/kung fu there is a massive gold fog door in the back (the area is clearly either a legacy dungeon or massive dungeon) and the locale does not match 1-3.

So at least 4 trophy bosses that we know of.

Also @Elder Lee Hung can rest easy:

The fire giant thing looks more like a DLC version of caravans guarded by the giants than a boss. So he does not have to worry about fire giant 2.0 lol

I think final boss is leaked and the fight
I didnt look at it but unfortunately from the caption i got spoiled a little
The spoiler:
he looks like isshin from sekiro so your theory might be right since the old guy looks like isshin

I also dont think we see his full design in that half a second clip, I imagine his lower body is quite freaky.

And when he pulls the blade out it's going to rip off his head at least.

Very creepy design for sure.

I think he'll be a major boss, maybe a legacy dungeon boss with a great rune, but not the final one. The final boss will be some sort of eldritch abomination, something completely different from anything we've fought so far. Probably spot on about him being Marika's father. I bet the lady in the painting is a deathbed companion.

or maybe an outer god.

i wonder if Messmer will have three phase with three health bars?

Turns out, the three phase boss is actually a new version of Malenia that you unlock by showing up with Miquella gear after completing the DLC, and in her third phase she gets super waterfowl dance, with 6 flurries instead of three

Also, I think the old guy will probably turn into an eldritch abomination once he pulls the thing out of his head/chest.

The actual boss design is definitely being hidden.
