I can see how someone might need a guide to follow something like Ranni’s quest or finding an optional boss like Malenia but idk how people are getting low diff’d by just figuring out where to go.
1) clear the yellow area as much as you can -> go to the big castle in the yellow area
2) clear the blue area as much as you can -> go to the big castle in the blue area
Repeat and you’ll do 90% of the content in the game

Being a souls noob such as I am I downloaded the wrong Elden Ring - instead of the vanilla game I downloaded Nightreign first... Suffice it to say I was pretty lost once I ran it for the first and last time.
I quickly realised "hey, idiot, why not start with Dark Souls 1? Doing these games chronologically is surely the way to go if you want to relax and enjoy yourself!" 😃

I absolutely SUCKED and through my sucking I STRESSED OUT constantly! Nothing more needs to be said than I didn't make it past the Taurus demon - General Zodd lite. I did not git gud...
Then I thought "alright, this is the first game in the series. The game mechanics surely weren't polished enough and the proceeding games only get easier for new players!😃"
Wrong. Again.
DS2 bored me honestly. I liked the ambience of DS1 ironically enough, but DS2 never even managed to grab me. Maybe because I just SUCKED at the combat. How the hell am I supposed to time my parry?!
Then I browsed the net a bit and saw Elden Ring tauted as THE souls game for beginners in the franchise. I swallowed my broken pride and downloaded the correct one this time.
Created my character. Went through the tutorial. Entered Limgrave. And I gotta tell you, this game rocks. I still mostly suck at combat but man there's so much to see and do that it's not much of an issue this time. The world is mindnumbingly huge. The bosses ARE tough (dungeon bosses, to be fair, I don't think I've faced any major bosses yet).
I've yet to face soldier of God, Rick but I'm sure I'll neg diff one shot him once I get there.

I never played games with similar combat to this. It was really frustrating ngl, but I'm enjoying Elden Ring so far. Maybe playing through this one will make me want to replay Dark Souls and go through the game start to finish.

These games are deceptively simple, it’s all about positioning and dodge timing.
Keep us posted, I think Elden Ring is actually the hardest game to pick up personally. I had over a thousand hours in these games the first time I played ER, and Margit still ripped my ass wide open on my first go around lol. Let me know if you struggle with him lol.

At Stormhill castle
I beat the Black Omen after a couple of tries. Those light attacks were annoying but othewise not too tough.
But this damn castle is too big! And honestly, the knights (those fully decked out guys) are giving me a tougher time than the boss. My last grace is at the Rampart tower so it's annoying having to start over without a new grace in sight but it is what it is.

@MonochromeYoru I put a few more hours in.
Since defeating Godrick I:
- went to the middle of the Liurnia lake to the magic academy. Ironically the Red Wolf gave me more trouble than Rennala. I probably died 5 or 6 times to him while it only took me 2 tries to beat Rennala (didn't expect her to start a second phase, and with a full health bar to boot).
- Then I went around Liurnia with various degrees of success. In the western part, north if the minor erdtree there is a site of grace but I couldn't reach it. An invader with some sort of pole arm is there and I just can't get the better of him.
- then I went to the manor in northenmost Liurnia. Those hands are a nightmare smh. I probably ran around aimlessly here the most, trying to get away from those hand herds. I did manage ti defeat Loretta after discovering the ladder to the left of the gate heading to her arena. Before that the troll would rinse me on repeat every time lol
- Then I went to Ranni in the Three Sisters. Somehow took half of the dragon's health and it just disappeared. I took her quest there and now I'm underground in some starry well looking for Blaidd

What's your build rn
Since this is my first playthrough and I'm just learning the mechanics and all that I'm going all in on Strength and Dexterity (so I can one hand my weapons better).
I'm mostly using a longsword with the Bleed Ash of War and that curved sword (Bloodhoubd's fang I think?). I have two talismans in use as well (though I don't know which ones of the top of my head, don't have access to my console for a few days).
Melee is just the way I prefer to go through games like this.
