Context is king.

I don't think Sanji is going to lose himself or get into a serious fight with Zoro because of it, but that isn't to say it couldn't work well within the story.

Sanji wouldn't have asked this of anyone else. Not even Luffy. That's how deep the trust goes. That alone adds signifcant texture to a hypothetical fight. Sanji would be out to murder. Zoro would be out to release.
And Oda will never take the time to build that to make it satisfying.

Oda has established that killing a nakama is a grave offense. That is the reason why Ace chased BB which lead to the event of MF. Therefore making two nakamas fight to death cannot be a small matter. Which is why he did not make what happened between Luffy and Sanji in WCI known to Zoro. He does not want to deal with this kind of drama. Thus why it will not happen.

Did your crystall ball tell you that? You're not Oda and you don't have the first clue on what's in his head so I don't see the point in this cynicism.

Also, Zoro fighting to release Sanji from being out of control isn't murder. It's euthanasia, and Luffy might not love it, but who's to say he would even be present to stop it?

No one is in Oda’s head. I am just stating my opinion like everyone else on this board. And yeah I’m quite pessimistic about Oda dealing with an inner Strawhats crew conflict.

Now you are free to believe that Oda will draw a Zoro vs Sanji fight but, imo, you are setting yourself for disappointment.
