...bruh...this is very weird. Do you not socialise with people? How do you communicate? With a dictionary?
Viz writes assuming most people will read words with context, not delvijg into dictionaries and reading words in the way no actual human intends.
No it's up to him to assess whether to dodge or not. Because if someone said dodge, he'd automatically do as they say without assessing.

It was a poor translation.
If Big Mom said "Dodge", Stephen Paul should have used "Dodge"; no reason to not do so. He went over-creative and messed up with a choice of words that don't fully translate what the original text stated. The car analogy is biased to begin with because it assumes that Zoro was comparable to a car about to hit Kaido (with the severe consequences comparable to a normal person being ran over), while also ignores the alternatives Kaido may have to avoid damage in a context where dodging isn't explicitly advised by Big Mom. In other words, the context some people allude to doesn't necessarily exist for a casual reader who considers the strategies Kaido may use as he's warned by his ally instead of told to dodge.
"Look out" doesn't mean the same as "dodge". Linlin indeed told Kaido to dodge, and Paul failed to translate it properly by overcomplicating it with unnecessary ambiguities.

There's no confusion, ifs, ands or buts about it.....all translations say/imply the same basic thing, that Kaido dodged the slash.
In the case, the fault is on nothing but the anti-Zoro brigade claiming Kaido stood in place while Zoro missed on his own.....
Once again, the only people who have problems with the translations and go through so many mental gymnastics are the power junkies wanting to enforce their power levels.....
