Naw I was right Sanji fans have been trying to “if Zoro can Sanji can” their way through every debate now they try to do it with Scopper. It’s done way more with Sanji than it is with Mihawk. I’m also not talking about the character I’m specifically talking about the fans.

Yet, there is element of good portrayal which oda touched - Luffy and Zoro both recognizing Gaban is real deal and were ready to tag team to fight him with Luffy even going Nika.

Base Luffy didn’t fight Gaban nor did he want to. He just wanted to steal the key. He never attacked Gaban at all he just reached for the key. He was unscathed by Gabans attacks and was never serious.

The moment he went into gear 5 Gaban gave up. I’m not saying Gaban is afraid to fight gear 5 Luffy for all we know he just wanted to see the “white form”. Either way this doesn’t prove anything, it doesn’t even prove Gaban > Base Luffy.

I don’t really get what the hype is about. Y’all should have waited until the chapter dropped instead of relying on spoilers.

The hype comes from the candy discord having access to leaks and constantly twist things.

This pretty much. It was not a luffy L or zoro L. Oda gave gaban respect of him being old legend by making luffy and zoro recognizing gaban as a relevant threat.
