We learn in the movie that Shanks had a bounty of 1 billion 12 years ago, it matches with his fights against Mihawk so we can assume that Mihawk had the level of a YC1 12 years ago

We don't know when Mihawk obtained the title of best swordsman + his shishibukai title but one thing is certain is that in 12 years, Mihawk has become even more powerful than before

I believe those two were above YC1 even 12 years ago.
Shanks is a guy that stays low.
He probably was the strongest Yonko but he had the lowest bounty and he was hyping BB, a guy who had no bounty at all..
Still to this day and we haven't see a duel that could be called legendary and oda didn't even implied something to that level.
Mihawk and shanks would lose only to BB from their era imo

The mihawk debate reminds me many years ago when i had the same discussion in AP forums about Garp when he appeared in EL and and later in MF and many idiots kept insisting that he is not strong and he's just the strongest VA. The discussion was the same as "mihawk is YC" and that garp "just cornered roger and couldnt fight him, he only used naval battles" and bullshit like that.

And even against vista, the duel lasted 3 pages, Mihawk literally showed nothing In the end, all we know about Mihawk is that he faced a YC1 12 years ago and that he became even stronger than before, that he destroyed all the navy boats that are came for him + that he made buggy yonko
