I'm going to post up folklore that relates to Carrot. You'll see things that have already happened and things that are insinuated to happen based on folklore research. The folklore will be classified into 2 pieces. Past/Future Everything I say is theory. I'll post about one piece of research a day but will be more than free to discuss anything you're curious in.

Past Style Folklore: The Jade/Moon Rabbit vs the Evil Toad
In the whole cake island arc, carrot is trapped in the mirror dimension after a brief battle with Brulee. Brulee's mirror mirror devil fruit allowed her to play evil tricks such as turning regular animals into illusion clones of the main cast. One of those animals was a frog that mimicked carrot. This brief moment seem to have been inspired about the story of the evil toad who stole the jade rabbit pestle after transforming into the jade rabbit itself.

This mystical Jade Rabbit made its Shen Yun debut in the 2014 dance Monkey King Thwarts the Evil Toad. In this story, a big, bad toad wants to devour the Tang Monk. But after Monkey King comes to the rescue, toad flies off to hide in the Moon Palace. There, it finds the Jade Rabbit busy at work—pounding herbal medicine into magical elixir with its mortar and pestle.

When the Moon Goddess Chang’e appears and summons bunny away, the toad, which had been lurking the entire time, shape shifts into the likeness of the Jade Rabbit. It then swipes some elixir to heal its injured leg and runs off with bunny’s pestle as a weapon. With a malicious, armed meta-toad on the loose things get pretty hectic. Luckily, Monkey King’s golden gaze sees through every demonic guise. He thwarts the toad and saves the day, returns the magic pestle to the Jade Rabbit, and all ends well.


The jade rabbit was a story about sacrifice. If Carrot took inspiration from this creature, why didn't she die yet? The hint was given when everyone was starving to death. See you tomorrow.

Past Style Folklore: Young rabbits are forbidden from sacrifice

Today I am going to address why Carrot hasn't died yet. The jade rabbit was a story of sacrifice which parallel a lot of activity that carrot has done however that was japanese mythology. Carrot may have a relation to Greek mythology too. While sailing to big mom's territory Luffy and the crew nearly starved to death. They caught a fish with poisonous skin that nearly killed Luffy. Carrot at some point askes Luffy if he was okay, and Luffy mentions a pretty white river. This cause carrot to panicky mention the river of death in greek mythos The Styx.






Rabbit are strongly associated with goddess Artemis. She had fondness for rabbits and forbid the sacrifice young rabbit which might explain why Pedro died to the explosive flame and Carrot didn't despite mimicking the jade rabbit. She was simply too young.






This has concluded two past style mythos. How about a future style mythos that might direct where carrot is going in the story? Tomorrow I'll provide that. Carrot has been mentioned to have an interest in giants. She was curious if they existed. That is the hint for what the first future style mythos will be about.

Actually, that's just one version of the sotry. The myth of the moon rabbit spreads all over the World From Mayan to China to Japan. It's very interesting. In fact the Mayan myth note the presence of a Jaguar Character.

Yes, I'm well aware of the jaguar. I read a story about a rabbit and a jaguar living with an old couple. The rabbit's trickery against the Jaguar lead to it being thrown to the moon. I think this is a mexican tale thought. Could you link to the mayan folklore?

I didn't went too deep into the research, but I saw that researching mayan stories and don't really remember where tho

Future Style Folklore: A rare creature

This mythos is very reachy but it might be an interesting read.

Today, I am going to speculate what Carrot might do in the future. I am speculating a new hidden power of the mink men. This involves another greek goddess* Hermaphroditus god of hermaphrodites and of effeminates. Hermaphroditus's origins involves a young man who at the age of 15 grew bored with his surroundings and traveled to the cities of Lycia and Caria. His story involves him being permanently fused with a Naiad nymph, Salmacis who rejected the ways of the goddess Artemis. Salmacis became lustful for Hermaphroditus at first sight while he was bathing. She came up behind him grabbing and hugging begging the gods to fuse them. This formed a new creature of both sexes called a hermaphrodite.


Hermaphroditus is the son of the goddess of love aphrodite. Rabbits were closely associated with this goddess also. It wasn't just Artemis. In Greece, the gift of a rabbit was a common love token from a man to his male or female lover.




Carrot left Zou at the age of 15 out of boredom and also traveled to 2 major locations. She is physically affectionate toward strangers which has included half of the strawhat crew. Carrot has also shown to have idleness and unambitious despite having self image concerns. She is vengeful and curious. I'm not saying carrot is fully based on Hermaphroditus, but she seems to have influence from both Hermaphroditus and Salmacis and any companion of a moon goddess.


Nami seems to represent the goddess Artemis who is a goddess of the moon. There were a lot of interesting details such as bears, punishments, boars sent to kill, and rapey guy dying in self defense. Carrot's character seems to be posed as a companion to Nami but also not following Nami's ways but rather the opposite.







While carrot's ability to transform into sulong is impressive, I think a hidden mink power is the ability to fuse with other living creatures.



I think there is also another hidden power of the minks. I will try again another future style mythos. The hint this time is the mighty lion leo.... The minks call humans lesser minks because they lack fur. What so special about mink's fur? Find out tomorrow.
