Knowing hes likely not gonna be the next or final villain doesn't really help. If luffy beats someone stronger than him before their fight it likely wouldn't help him look good.

I mean yeah it's pretty clear the monster trio will fight their Admiral counterparts, but imo it won't be as good as the BB Pirates EOS fight, I feel like the Admirals lost a lot of hype in recent arcs

Because Akainu is weak, if Luffy is now going to defeat the strongest, his next enemies must overcome somehow. Teach can eat one more Devil Fruit and Im hasn't had his power revealed. Akainu can't do anything.

Denying Luffy the chance to avenge his brother and even his own pride would be a very bad move, and also inconsistent because having the admirals and Teach and the other BB Pirates dealt in the same arc would be too much most likely

Three main reasons why some certain people claims Luffy won't fight Akainu is because, 1. Luffy is too strong for him (which isn't true, Akainu at worst can push Luffy to high diff), 2. Akainu won't be one of/the final villain of OP, 3. Sabo will be the one that fights him instead of Luffy. No matter how you look at it, Luffy vs Akainu is happening regardless of how one sided of a fight it would be.

The reason why luffy won’t fight akainu is pretty simple, he is simply too strong. Akainu isn’t significantly stronger than the other admirals, doesn’t make sense for luffy to fight an opponent equal to sanj’s and zoro’s opponents. Sabo has the same reasons if not more to fight akainu.

Luffy vs Akainu won't be sided at all. Akainu embarassed the so called strongest pirate crew back in Marineford. Akainu vs Luffy being a super ultra hyper exteme diff fight with Luffy losing an ear or an internal organ is still possible.

Captain: Imu
Executives: Gorosei + Kong
Commanders: Admirals

So Akainu is in the 3rd layer above him we have Kong and Gorosei

He is the Who's Who in the world government


So who has nearly as much reason as Luffy to fight him ?

He got Ace fruit
He is RA the opposite of where Akainu stands
He is the second in the army
Akainu is also the second in the army ( Kong is technically a above him)

Both have similar powers yet opposite believes

In Enies Lobby Luffy fought an opponent that was in the same position as Sanji's and Zoro's opponents, and was even a rival of Sanji's opponent, despite the big difference of douriki.

So if Luffy fights Akainu his opponent will be less equal to Sanji's and Zoro's opponents than in Enies Lobby, since Akainu is a fleet admiral.

You may have the impression that Akainu is not significantly stronger than the other admirals, but that's just because none of them went all out yet, nor exhibited some number to express their power levels yet, for you to be able to see with clarity how much stronger Akainu is than the other admirals, just like one couldn't know that Lucci was much stronger than Kaku just by judging how they were portrayed and what they did in Water Seven.
