What are times you think oda gambled in the comic and do you think it paid off or not? For example the creation of g5, initially people hated it, but it seems it is already growing on people.

Same was said about dressrosa and WCI.

Dressrosa was and still is dunked on for it's awful pacing. That was the main problem.

Whole Cake Island is still shit, it just looks comparatively better compared to Wano.

Whole Cake Island didn't become better, it simply preceded the absolutely bloated shit fest that was Wano Arc.

The only problem I have with WCI is when I reread it, all I will think about is how disappointing Big Mom’s demise will be. She had so much potential, and she shouldn’t have been a main antagonist of Wano because she also had ties to Elbaf.

Do you remember when people were insulting Sanji for baking a cake and not getting a 1 vs 1? I remember defending Oda’s choice because WCI was a food based arc, baking was the best course of action for Sanji. Finally Oda gives us a payoff during Wano!

Turn Big Mom into a gag and having her fight with Kid and Law being almost hakiless was another.

To say the ones is paid off. Enies Lobbies power ups. Supernovas introduction at Sabaody. Shichibukai system.

Yamatrash is definitively not the only character on whom Oda was high when writing these last arcs. His writing and treatment of Big Mom and most of her crew, especially her daughters, is just so jarring.

When you compare this shit to pre ts it feels like someone kidnapped Oda and the editors put some random clown to write the manga.
