what a stupid king .

it's either he is weak king

or he agree with kanki but don't want to accept this truth

Kanki's HQ:

Kanki says that the one who started the war was the Qin king and that the one who killed the most people at this time is the Qin King as well. Kokuou butts in saying that the one who started all of this was the Qin king and that it's his fault so he shouldn't spout nonsense to the boss. Sei tells her to shut up then says he has no intention of listening to their immature nonsense. Kanki tells him that Sei's theory is nonsense and that he killed many more than just a few thousands. Sei says he's here to talk about the captives saying he never told Kanki to execute all of them. Kanki says whether he was ordered to or not it's just the conclusion of the war that he started.

Sei says he's here to condemn him then Kanki asks if Sei's planning on putting all the blame on him. Sei says putting Kanki who ran wild once the war started was his responsibility and another responsibility bigger than that is his desire to crush the six kingdoms. Kanki says he's a King of Blood and that compared to him Kanki looks cute. Sei says he knows this path he has chosen is blood-stained and because of that there needs to be a line drawn between soldiers who die for their people versus killing those who have surrendered. They cannot afford to have another Hakuki in the current 6 generals. Marron remembers what Hakuki did at Chohei in the past killing 400,000.

Sei says he remembers the pain and the hurt that the Zhao felt and the way he learned it with his own body while he was young. With an event like that the thought of governing another state with law in that time would have been useless. This thing that Kanki did was a reminder of that. If after all the wars they cannot become one nation then everything that led up to now will return to nothing. Something like that could never...

Kanki tells him to wait and asks if he's being serious about what he's saying. He asks Sei if he really believes after all the killing and taking of the land that he thinks the people will really be able to become one. Sei says yes and Kanki begins laughing. Then Kanki asks Kokuou what she thinks about it and if she can live happily with the Zhao. She says there's no way after what the Zhao did to the captured Raido. Even after they've won against the Zhao she'll refuse to live with them on their side and will kill them all instead.

Sei says he knows it'll be a hard path to take and Kanki says it's not that it'll be a hard path but that even if the wars disappear after the nation becomes one the people will never work that way. Kanki says the Qin King is expecting too much out of the people.

Sei says what he says is right then asks what's wrong with that. He says that it's because he trusts and hopes in the people that he is taking the fastest route in becoming the king of the country. He says that he is not someone who is doing nothing and simply "despairing" like... then looks at Kanki and thinks of the word "despair."

Kanki asks what's wrong then asks what the plan is now. If he's planning on killing him then go ahead but then he says that Sei will die here at that same moment meaning that path of blood will also end here. Something like that might be better for those who are still alive today. Sei says that if there really was no explanation then he wouldn't have hesitated to kill Kanki right then and there. However, thanks to Marron's explanation he will let it go and tells his soldier to lay down their sword. Kanki asks if Marron's explanation was actually good enough then Sei says there's another reason for him letting it go. Because Kanki managed to kill Kochou which he never thought the Kanki army would be able to do in their battle. That level of achievement was something that Shouheikun evaluated was worth taking into consideration. Because of all of those things put together Kanki is being let go this time.

Kanki then asks if he doesn't need to give up the seat of the 6 greats and says he'll give the wing back if needed. Sei says in order to unite the nations the strength of the 6 greats are needed. That hasn't changed even now and says he'll leave it with Kanki for now. However, if something like this happens again then he will really come for Kanki's head and if next time he dares to put his feet up in front of the King then he will chop off those legs right in that very spot then leaves.

Narration:

In Qin's tradition there was a way to even out the wrongs thru an exchange of heads in the battlefield. The records show that the Qin had a lot of enemies cut down in battle and this might explain why. However, nothing was recorded after the 100,000 beheading done by Kanki.

While the Qin King is down Shin says "so this is where you've been" and they greet each other.

No break next week!

Pretty Boy
This reminds me of a quote from Mass Effect

Go stand at the graves of billions and ask them if honour matters. Their silence is your answer

Kanki is right, it is war, shit like this happens if you want to win. Whole honor shit doesnt mean shit if you will fail

Lazy is the way
Don’t really like the way Sei was portrayed here. Yeah the choice was difficult and Sei only had bad decisions to take, but he really appears weak here. Next time you do that I’ll punish you, next time you do that I’ll cut your head, next time you do that I’ll chop your legs, next time, next time etc. Also letting Kanki talking and asking Sei questions etc.

I don’t like the dialogues here

Kanki asks what's wrong then asks what the plan is now. If he's planning on killing him then go ahead but then he says that Sei will die here at that same moment meaning that path of blood will also end here.
Is he speaking metaphorically or seriously? Cause if he’s serious that’s a weak ass bluff and kinda laughable.

Honestly (despite the fact that I didn’t think he should get punished in the first place), not punishing after coming all the way out here makes even less sense. That was basically a repeat of his Kokuyou speech to Shin and Sei actually backed down. So you’re not punishing him, not stripping him of his Qin Six title, and basically just giving him a warning? That’s pretty lame.

i agree with you that sei appeared vvery weak here

but i think it can be explained .
esei want the unification to continue at any cost and losing one of the new 6gg (who are 5 now ) is great step back in the path of the unification , Also if he punish kanki it will affect kanki next performance
cuz kanki is different he is not normal general , He doesn't give a fuck about this king and his kingdom if he punish him he will leave !! to another kingdom. (which is something normal in this era )
imagine one of your 6gg join your enemy ?! in a time like this ?!

so i think esei knowing all this he accepted the best of bitter choices .

Kanki’s arguments were weak af non sequiturs that had nothing to do with why Sei was actually there to see him in the first place.

What Kanki should have said, was something like “you want to unify China, this is the price that must be paid in blood. Nothing else will be sufficient” or smth like that instead of this BS about how China will never accept unification, which has been addressed and debunked by the narrative multiple times by now.

I’m fine with the writing decision to have Kanki’s arguments be weak as shit, but Sei should’ve bitch-slapped him for this lol.

When you got Renpa kneeling so hard that he's lying his face downwards in submission and utmost respect to Wei's king for his loss against Qin despite the king being extremely humble and Renpa not committing any genocide, you really wonder to which extent Hara intends to lower Eisei's self-esteem lol. I understand the part where Kanki's insane achievements make Eisei unable to punish Kanki, but how Eisei, the monarch is being humiliated by one of his hand-picked 6GG? That's an entirely different story all together which deserves its own discussion lol.

Yeah there was no « good » choice.

But here Sei didn’t show convictions : if he knew he couldn’t do anything why coming to Kanki ? Kanki didn’t show any respect and Sei only appeared weak with his half assed words and fake threats.

Either come and punish / be respected or don’t come at all

Sei is feeling down after his convo with Kanki.
Shin comes and greets a dissapoonted Sei.

I think this is the mirror of what happened in beginning of Battle of Sai.

Shin and his whole HSU were feeling down after they lost Duke Hyou. They reached Sai with despair face, only then to be greeted by Sei then the atmosphere instantly changed.
Yeah this time Shin will tell him to pull his shit together, he isn't perfect.

Like what else was Sei gonna do execute one of the 6 greats right here on the spot despite his big achievement in a battle that they would have never won with numbers alone.
Seems like SHK may have told Sei to not make hasty decision.

I got no complaints with this chapter. Anger and actions on whim are the actions of a fool.

Sei did wise to let Kanki pass despite the arrogance and insult. He'd be fool to punish Kanki rn in the middle of war. The campaign could easily fail and he'd have no one but himself to blame then. Qin needs Kanki, Sei needs Kanki rn. He'd get his chances when Shin, Mou ten and Ou hon will be ready to fill in his shoes.

As for why he personally visited to warn Kanki, to show the seriousness of his words and the warning. Even Kanki must realise this he can't repeat something similar in the future without loosing his head.
