Seika army are the strongest from Zhao, you guys forget that Houken was already injured by Kyoukai, Shin needed to die to kill Houken, was more likely a Draw than a actually a victory.

This Generlas from Seika is in the same room as Tou,Gyou'un,Chougaryuu they are General from a 6gg level guy.

nah they are not like tou
you are overhyping them
Tou is GG don't compare him with those .

also what it matters if they are like gyoun chougaryou
shin killed HOKEN and you tell them that they are like them lol

he killed hoken
after fighting for days and days
while hoken was freash only fought kk
lol

Shin was using his mode at that time, till meet grim reaper (nearly die 1 inch more)
That bullshit is called Gear-5-nika-Ouki lol

Well, shounen manga are kinda like that

Right now, he hasnt use that. Could be in shift with kyoukai who did a heavy accomplishment in this spoiler chapter. Let us see he says 'let me lit the fire'

Rinko was able to injure Ouki and lost to 1000 Man Shin.

Why do folk think that because Shin defeated Houken then he should curb stomp every new opponent that he comes across? That is dumb.

Kingdom has a strength limit. Once characters reach the pinnacle, that is it. They aren't going to go any further. Shin is at that physical pinnacle as are many other Top Tier duelists. Just because Shin beat one Top Tier, does not mean he is going to easily crush other Top Tiers or even those a Tier below Top Tier. They are all going to put up a fight.

Jyou Karyuu is so far matching Shin but he isn't getting any real hits on him or vice versa. Shin is also more concerned about escaping the encirclement with as many Qin troops as possible rather than taking this one bloke's head.

Jyou Karyuu's strength was hyped up in advance with the bloke stating that he was the main muscle of the Seika Army before Ji Aga surpassed him.

That means he is stronger than both Kan Saro and Gakushou and only below Ji Aga and Shibashou.

Why exactly should this guy be getting curb stomped by Shin? Lel.

Shin killed Hou Ken.

Shi is not better than Hou Ken.

Even if Shin weren't fatigued and nerfed back then or Kyou Kai hadn't done damage, Hou Ken was the better martial artist because he was and remains the peak of martial ability.

Even present day isn't as good as Hou Ken was at the time of his death.

The thing with Hou Ken is that his battles were Shin were just as much ideological as they were physical. At Shukai, Hou Ken had a crisis of identity and conscience. Shin didn't out-skill Hou Ken, he simply outlasted him by getting up every time Hou Ken knocked him down, surpassing his limits again and again, demonstrating the kind of strength Hou Ken had dedicated his life to cultivating while sacrificing so much.

you could have just said
FRIENDSHIP POWER

FRIENDSHIP POWER
If you want to be reductive about it, sure.

I think the tragedy of Hou Ken is worth expounding on though, because that's what his story was. A tragedy.

Just think about how fucked up his story was:

He was raised by his parents' murderer who stripped him of his humanity and molded him into a bloodthirsty warrior-monk who had nothing but pain and loneliness, and the mission. A killing machine for all intents and purposes.

And following those beliefs he had been indoctrinated with practically since birth, Hou Ken denied himself all the joy and beauty life had to offer for the sake of achieving some kind of pinnacle, some kind of transcendence that could usher mankind into enlightenment.

Hou Ken lived, trained, meditated, fought and killed believing in nothing but his mission - only to see a similar kind of strength he was searching for in a young man who wasn't even looking for it.

It broke his mind, and how could it not? There he stood, knowing all he had believed in to be a lie and all he sacrificed to be for nothing. Hou Ken was stripped of the last thing he had with a semblance of positivity - his belief.

He began to doubt not only himself - he had done that before and resolved to get stronger - but in the validity of his beliefs. In the futility of his mission. In the truth of his teachings.

That doubt was the little death that preceded.

Hou Ken was dead before Shin's glaive fell.

-

But, yeah, the guy lost because of friendship, sure.

IMO his timing death was not right , his death should have been after Riboku got prisoned..

It would have been much impact ful war as he leading Zhao in Ribokus absence..
should have died in second half of the invention

I'm of both minds.

I like the idea of a seriously pissed off Hou Ken without RBK to reign him in showing up a couple months after Shukai, having tracked down the HSA with the sole intention of killing Shin and Kyou Kai, but there's a lot of set up Hara would have to do to make that work as well as what he went with.

Narratively, killing Hou Ken at Shukai worked quite well. It's the execution that I was at odds with.

Qin took huge huuuge chunks of territory from Zhao. RBK's imprisonment felt like the true beginning of the end for Zhao, and since we know Zhao can't be sticking around for that much longer and Hara/history had plans for SBS - it could still work, but I don't know if that's in the interest of the story.

Despite not commanding an army, Hou Ken generates a lot of gravity and takes up a lot of space. It'd be tricky introducing Seika, Shi Ba Shou and all his vassals with him around.

Wow, Kyoukai was GOATED this chapter. She's been hidden too long and now it's time for China to hear her name, she has the power to rival the monster trio and now it's time for the world to know it.

Kyourei should go into her priestess dance too to catch up with kyoukai, and she won't spit out blood like Kai is doing
