God damn. At the very end, Kanki chose to go out fighting like Chou Tou. He made no excuses for himself and he remained loyal to his crew, even if they all had moments where they doubted him. He died a true GG’s death and if his final speech actually spurs Riboku to involve himself into politics, Kanki won’t have gone out empty handed.

Kanki is the anti-Shin and also serves as a foil to Sei. A genius in his own style of warfare that clawed his way up from the bottom rungs of society, a man that inspires awe in his subordinates and takes the time to provide them with encouragement and emotional support. In a different timeline, Kanki and Shio may have indeed become liberators of the oppressed, developing a relationship with their people not dissimilar to Kisui’s relationship with Rigan. RIP Kanki, definitely a contender for my favourite manga character of all time.

I'm legitimate sad that Kanki is gone. It felt like he'll always slip away but I'm happy that he's dead so that people won't expect him to come back as a antagonist at every arc.

At least Gakushou and Shin's long lost twin barely did something at the start and can return, but Enkan and Minhaku were straight up just there to fill the page.
