South Africa is a failing nation with the government being so corrupt that anyone who can leave is leaving.
Furthermore, orthodox conversion is an intense process. The process takes years and to successfully do it you need to follow extremely strict rules. Like kosherize your kitchen, obey Shabbat rules, etc. You also need to do immense study. Orthodox prayer books have very little English in them, you need to learn Hebrew to follow along.
Once you do all that and your rabbi thinks you are ready, you are then presented to a beit din, a Jewish court, and the court will determine if your conversion is valid or not.
While I’m sure there are some people who would convert to leave South Africa, I find it very hard to believe that this is happening in any significant numbers. And I don’t think there is any data to suggest significant conversion to Judaism amongst white South Africans.
I think people who are interested in Judaism just have a higher motivation to leave because South Africa is going to shit.
Also not everyone who makes Aliyah becomes a settler. If someone feels a religious connection to israel and wants to move there, honestly buy property, and live in the land, imo there is nothing wrong with that.

There are definitely big parallels between Israel and Apartheid south africa. Down to the way palestinian enclaves in the west bank are similar to the bantustans of south africa.
My only point was that I don't think that there is some sort of nefarious scheme by south africans to convert to judaism just so they can colonize palestine.

Like I said, orthodox conversion is a serious process. And I don't think you can bribe your way in or anything. The rabbinate in israel is extremely conservative. These guys are as by the books as you get. There are certain religions that identify themselves as jewish, like Messianic judaism or the black hebrew israelite movement, that aren't aknowledged as jewish by the wider jewish community. These guys' conversions don't count.
Similarly, reform judaism, while being a recognized denomination of judaism by Israel as far as the law of return is concerned, is held to a different standard specifically because conversion to reform judaism isn't as rigorous as conversion to orthodox. Hence while I, a reform convert, could theoretically make aliyah and gain israeli citizenship, I wouldn't be classified as jewish in the state of israel's civil code.
Israel ultimately wants to create a theocratic ethnostate. They want people who are immigrating to be as jewish as possible. If you could just buy your way it would defeat the purpose of the law.
