this dude explains it so well

political lesson about current germany if anyone wants to
Dude called pensions universal basic income 😂and the SPD a left party😂

The introduction about overaging was good imo but there is one elephant in the room nobody wants to talk about: humans are not meant to become that old and what caused this problem? For profit modern corporate healthcare. Supplanting the lack of young people with millions of immigrants is not a solution but creates more problems, socially and culturally. It does nobody a favor neither the Germans nor the.immigrants.
If we want to solve the actual problem at hand we must get rid of the insane levels of for profit modern corporate healthcare that our country is burdened with nowadays. And it's actually shocking to me that it took fucking COVID for the majority to realize what an unethical, elitist mess it is. The issues we saw during the pandemic have been an integral part of modern profit orientated healthcare for decades and have increasingly worsened over time.
Blood pressure drugs that have severe side effects? Swipe.it under the rug, when it makes patients even sicker we can sell them even more drugs for their new health problems. 🤑Intensive care COVID treatment causes PTSD? Great, now we can sell them psychopharmaceuticals on top🤑There's people who feel like the opposite gender? Great, let's convince them that only highly invasive surgeries and lifelong dependence on artificial hormones makes them complete human beings🤑🤑🤑.
Convince the population that hooking brain dead and dying individuals to machines to keep them alive for 30 more years is the ethical thing to do and anything else would be disregard for life? Great, more 🤑🤑🤑🤑for the medical elite while schools are in disrepair, system relevant jobs get ridiculously underpaid and millions have no access to healthy, nutritious food. Half poisonous industrial food making the people sick long term? Great, more 🤑🤑🤑🤑 for lifelong diseases to line the pockets of the medical corporate elite.
Convincing the people that reaching a ridiculously high, unnatural age is the main goal of life?🤑🤑🤑🤑🤑🤑🤑🤑🤑🤑🤑🤑🤑🤑🤑 because the longer we live, the more we consume, and the sicker we are the more of their side effect laden pills we chuck down clinging to hope they keep us young as long as possible.

Querdenker?

I think this is a huge problem. Not just in modern politics, but historically.

Way too many people treat politics like sports.

Rather than care about policy they want to "win bigly" and "own the libs".

Actually, IMO, it's worse than sports.

It's misinformed people treating politics like Call of Duty.

Maybe now you start to understand why my quest here was the repoliticization of the political.

When people think that political stuff around them are just "fun things with no real importance", they tend to be blind to the actual reality of the world.

Fascists wants you to think that everything in the world around you is apolitical.

When Murican celebrity worship enters politics that's when you know y'all are fucked.
So many people don't look up the actual programs of the party they vote, they think listening to their performative speeches is enough to get a good picture of their policy. It's a big problem, maybe the biggest problem of them all.

I mean duh ?

Economics, law, education, innovation ( scientific/technological), international relations/geopolitics, culture of your own country etc etc etc

Do you really think the average citizen ( in any country ) is well educated AND/OR actually keeps up with all of these things ? Cuz when you vote you vote on all of these topics.....Well the harsh truth is that most people are dumb and should stay far away from the voting booth either because they are actually limited in their understanding on how all of these things work or work together or because they're too lazy or don't have the time to do it

As if it wasn't enough politics it's a very divisive topic which doesn't help at all...

Idk what's the solution to this tbh but it sucks xD ( maybe find a better way to give the voting right to someone like a cognitive test every once in a while or something )

The solution is education. Governments are intentionally dumbing down the population and the US are a prime example.

It is, and it isn't. Some people are just that limited. If, at the end of your growth, you're 1.5m (4.9ft) tall, that’s kinda it—you aren’t growing a centimeter more than that. The mind is not much different. There are some people who are mentally "tall" at 1.5m (4.9ft), and they’re never going to play in the NBA. Again, these are all complicated topics on their own that are even more complicated when working together. And we're in a rapidly changing era, so for some people (a substantial number, I'm afraid), it's unfortunately GG regardless of education.

There's also the issue that, if you completely revamp the education system today, the ones who will benefit the most are the ones starting school tomorrow. It’s going to take quite some time before they can add that value back to society.

It’s also not just about governments—what do you want to push for? Something that might benefit you tomorrow, or something that might benefit you in the next 20 years? If you're young, you can surely go for the long-term strategy. But if you're 40/50+, things might not look great for you in 20 years...

I'd be all for it, but again, even if it's done today and done perfectly, it'll be decades before we actually see the results.

Thank God we have these dinosaurs in office who care for the youth and not the companies that they own stock in.

It's easy to say "duh", but it's gotten a lot worse since Citizens United.

The solutions are simple in theory: term limits + removal of lobbyism. Make it a serious crime for politicians to take bribes, and for businesses/people from bribing politicians. Removing corporate personhood in various countries would also help.

The biggest problem is that people hate on the government, but then expect them to protect them/save them. Non-government/non-rich citizens need way more rights when it comes to protecting themselves.

The amount of money/effort certain political groups have put into making people as poor and stupid as possible is staggering.

The actual solution is "punching up" but when it comes time for either "side" to do so they magically find someone underneath them to attack instead.

The biggest problem isn't ignorance, either. It's arrogance. People playing god, and "punishing" others in the name of god, lecturing children on scripture they don't believe in themselves.

If humans were just stupid it would be one thing. There are very "stupid" people from our species incredibly capable of building functional fire-arms and explosives. Heck, look at meth.

Ignorance isn't the problem, ego is.

You tell a man he deserves something good, then tell him someone else deserves worse? Entire empires have been built off that simple trick.

"We're special. We're the CHOSEN people."

That's what causes this shit, not raw stupidity.

Give voting rights only to intelligent people is an extremely dangerous idea.
Who decides what's required to pass this cognitive test? Who makes the questions? This WILL1000% be abused by the ruling class and gives them no incentive to invest in education if they can kill democracy by setting conditions for the right to vote.'
What some people here come up with :lawsigh:

Anybody crying about Elon Musk and Oligarchs better stfu and look at the all those democrats etc in the Senate etc and be reminded that they themselves are Oligarchs in their own way, Taking money and insider trading (I'm looking at you Nancy), they have more money than what their Salary says.

Sure

but It is problematic that a billionaire can just buy himself an unelected position in the government

I.e. hired by the President excericing his executive power. Not to mention it was campaigned on so this didn't come out of nowhere. And already has exposed alot of fraud and whatnot. I'd be embarrassed to be a Democrat hearing what's been found already. If you're not, either you have no shame or your putting blinders on.
