Logiko was talking about pedophilia as a concept, this conversation was never about actual criminals?
I was rather talking about the overall oppressions that are adultism, patriarchy and therefore pedophilia as a whole.
When we talk about pedophilia, we talk about two things:
- The passive attraction
- The action on a victim
For the first case, I'm not even sure you can call it "an attraction". We are talkin about a person who snapped a barrier, someone who jumped completely over a taboo. Therefore said taboo does not exist anymore for them, you can't "heal" it. It's not about pulsions, or incompresible desires, it's simply the spectra of what is forbidden that was extended over a limit that is non acceptable.
The second case is based on the same thing BUT it is also an action of agression. Just like the other, it's not an illness, and it's not a pulsion. It's the action of a person, usually a man, who abused their power consciously. This is power. This is domination. Something all powerfull men without restrictions will do.
Pedophilia must be countered and denounced and we must stop deresponsibilizing the perpetuators by pathologizing them. This will only get us so far.. This behavior has to be understood within the intersections of the systems of domination (patriarchy and adultism) that allow these behaviors to happen. Only that way we can really stop it from happening.
