So it’s basically a desperate attempt to get as much money as they can by trying to appeal to the small percentage that actually want characters changed like that?
Disney hasn’t made an original movie since… I don’t know, Moana? (That’s a Disney movie, right?) It’s all been them trying to get as much money as they can be recreating their older movies and making them live-action, it’s so lazy and boring.
Do they think animated movies won’t sell? The
Super Mario Bros. Movie made
1 BILLION DOLLARS within a month!

If you put honest effort and dedication into something, it will sell! You just need to understand what your audience wants.
All of Disney’s live-action movies have and will be forgotten about within a year or two. They’re not memorable because the things that made them memorable were taken away, and in the end they’re just soulless cash grabs.
Some movies just don’t work in live-action, period. When you make things realistic, you’re sacrificing the emotion that goes into the expressions and body language. Once you lose those elements, everything becomes so restricted.
The Lion King (2019) for example:
You can’t connect with Simba very well here because you can’t truly feel the shock and pain that he feels when his father dies. It’s so annoying to watch.
Why can’t they make original movies with original characters like they used to? Blackwashing/Whitewashing just doesn’t sit well with me, because it gives gives you a clear idea as to what they’re really trying to do. They’re not doing it for you.
If they’re gonna make the characters look different, they should atleast try to give them a unique take. If all they do is make the character a different race and use it as a marketing point then that’s just stupid.
