Tbh I believe child abuse is less of a surprise and more of a norm in human societies. Almost everyone does it. And some cultures even normalised it.

It is and always has been completely natural to get rid of unwanted dogs. Those that cannot be trained well enough are useless mouths that have no purpose or use in life. Killing is a necessary tool in domestication .

Yes but pets are a human's possession, they are not their own beings. Even in the good old horde days ppl would have their still living dogs killed when the person died so they can be buried with their favourite dogs.
Domestic animals are at our disposal while wild animals only deserve respect when they have the power to kill us. Nature is our playground .
