Congress is utterly incapable of doing its job, so the only way anyone can push their agenda is by the presidency. Meaning over the years there has been more and more power grabs by the presidency.
Recently, Trump has attempted to override birthright citizenship via executive order. This is unconstitutional. Birthright citizenship has been guaranteed by the 14th amendment and a century of legal precedent has upheld this.
But republicans don’t like birthright citizenship, so they’re okay with Trump effectively rewriting the constitution unilaterally. Despite the fact that this logic, taken to it’s natural conclusion, will lead to America becoming a dictatorship.

It won’t even get better when Trump is gone because I have zero doubts the democrats will be any different. Albeit they might not take as brazen of a step in their overreaches. Yet they can be assured to overreach as well.
They will say that it is necessary because the republicans are Nazis and this is needed to stop the rise of Nazism in America. They will say it’s okay because Trump did it. The base will support them.
A couple more cycles of this nonsense and America will either dissolve or turn into a dictatorship.
