I agree with that. I also think Charlie Hebdo poked a bees' hive
I'll repeat myself:
Learn what other cultures are.
Political caricature and fervent secularism are an integral part of French culture.
The mindset –as well as in other west European cultures – is: every religion deserves to be criticized and be made fun of, if you can't handle it you're overly sensitive and certainly not enlightened enough.
Basically what Monty Python did with Life of Brian for Christianity.
It's important to note that caricatures of religion are NOT synonymous with hate crime or disrespect against the religion in question, nor are they necessarily omotivated by blind hate and disrespect on the side of the caricaturist. The tone is NOT "haha all religions suck get fvked religious people"
It follows the doctrine that nothing ,not even religion ,is too holy to be above public scrutiny. The very fact that, after centuries of the church dictating public and spiritual life, we now have the freedom to criticize and relentlessly make fun of it is celebrated.
The Muhammad caricatures were not an attack on all Muslims and their belief, just like Life of Brian doesn't make fun of Jesus or Christianity. On the contrary, religious caricatures may have a deeper meaning and address problems beyond the surface.
Caricatures are intended to be provocative to make.people pay attention to the underlying message.
I hope my explanation did something for you, although after seeing your ignorant reactions to North American culture having the concept of reclamation of ethnic slurs completely fly over your head despite multiple users trying their best to educate you my hopes are not exactly high haha
