Because racism - despite what we learn - is a very specific system of domination that is linked to the concept of whiteness and white supremacy. Racism was (and still is) developped and used as a tool to subjegate colonized and racialized populations, dominate & exploit them. Very simply: Whiteness is a social dominant position theorized around 1935. A tool of power & domination. Invisible politically but present in the institutions. It's a form of psychological salary, giving a dominant social status to even the poorest white working class workers over racialized ones, with implicit social and space access and pushing them to identify to elites instead of "racialized" workers.
