Are you conscious that we were literally warning people of this rise 3 years ago? There is nothing new here, it's not a surprise, this is the result of 30 years of hardcore liberalism. The left is not "losing" the plot. The left lost 30 years ago. This defeat? It's a liberal one. Not a leftists one.
As for the left, if you look around, you will see that we also predicted its rise. I clearly remember telling you that while the Nazi would rise, the left will too as it is the logical results of the polarization of the world for and against capitalism.
The left is rising and rising fast.
The REAL question is: Will the left be stronger than the capitalism in crisis and manage to implement a real form of transition toward communism... or will the right manage to repeat WWII?
The world is on the balance between these two possibilities at the moment. And the tipping point is in Europe (I think).
If Melenchon wins in France, the left will have an advantage in Europe and a partership will China will be created, pushing Europe a step forward socialism. But if Marine Le Pen or a Macron 2.0 wins, the far right will have the advantage, Spain will be isolated, the UK and Germany will fall, Putin will have a field day and the interests of Trump and Israel will probably push the world toward WWIII against China.
Watch 2027. It's far more important than you think.

It's sadly inevitable. It's all about power struggle. The one who has the power creates the hegemony.
If humanity was rationnal by nature, there would be no problems, but we are full of biases (due to our evolution). In capitalism and the modern times, the meritocratic myth is far more shiny than the prospect of a materialist social revolution and the knowledge that we are the products of our environments.
But a part of your statement is still true, we are still failing in presenting a clear vision of a future that would be greater than these capitalists myths. Some tried, but they are unaccessible.

In Asia, there has been increasing tilt towards nationalism like in India, Indonesia, Japan. S. Korea is left tilt but it's more of an exception than a norm.
We know the landscape in USA and in Latin America it's kind of mixed.
So, if you actually compare then many major countries are gradually drifting towards the right - even if they don't win the election but they are gaining momentum in the votes.
One key factor is the world as of now is riding on anti globalization wave.
Also, even if Europe do get left in power, don't even expect any cordial relations with China. India and USA doesn't want EU - China close relationship. EU doesn't trust China - Russia close relationship. NATO is another factor here.
