By what Shanks was saying, '' do you want to settle things ''.. That means they were 5-5 in score..
Whenever Swordsmanship Skills are mentioned in One Piece, it's always about getting Stronger.. So those 2 ideas are analoguous to each other.. And it showed there again by saying that the WSS has better Swords Skills than Shanks, not just '' Stronger '' than Shanks..

Black Blade or not he couldn't beat Vista and didn't want that smoke. With that black blade he has not went and faced off against Shiryuu with that black blade he did not fight and win against King.

We dont know what Grade Shanks's blade is. He inherited Roger's techniques and Roger had a Supreme Grade blade. I'd bet money that Gryphon is a supreme grade blade too.

His title isnt a Gimmick. He's just an unknown, Oda hasnt revealed a single thing about his combat powers or who he fought & beat except for his Duels with Shanks. That doesnt mean he didnt do anything lol.
Shanks already showed his Signature Technique and Mihawk will 100% surpass it lol.
When Oda gave Roger & Shanks the same Signature Technique, he means to tell us that they're fighting style is the same except for the lost arm.

It's evidently proven and shown that Mihawk doesn't fight everyone who's considered a swordsman, Vista who was with WB for over a decade had his first clash ever with Mihawk at MF. Do you think Mihawk went and fought King, no he hasn't nor will he.
A tech that one shot an entire crew and destroyed their ship in an instant, so thanks for proving the point that in one panel and 2+ years Shanks showed more than whatever Mihawk has shown in all his screentime.
& that blackblade you love was never stated if Mihawk turned it into a blackblade the way way Shusui was stated to have been by Ryuma specifically...
