the fans have high expectations on one piece because they know oda is a genius and is capable on making his story much better, but for him he is now so successful and so big that there's nothing can push him to improve what he's doing

i don't think he ever claimed on wanting to make the greatest manga or becoming the greatest mangaka ever

with high expectations comes high disappointments , one piece will always be a simple manga aimed for the japanese teenages

Äh,Kidd will not run away just by Shanks Haki flex.

Its a matter of fact he shit on Admirals since years.Oda will never let a Admiral looks good against Shanks. They always looks like shit in front of him.

And you know thats true
Whenever Oda wants to wank Shanks, he's willing to bend over any character for him. Even Kaido retreated from the RHP, I will be surprised if Oda shits on the admirals outside of Shanks and Luffy.

Imagine being a top tier end game material Yonko for 20+ long years only to become a joke.

Imagine being a veteran New World pirate and can't even use koka coa.

Imagine training for two years and becoming strong enough to defeat a YC1 only to get one shot by a Yonko. Then after only a few days, become stronger enough to able to match that Yonko, when even two long years of training wasn't enough to put you at that level. Then die for a few seconds as the result of your battle only to awaken your devil fruit that can clown and make a joke of the opponent that just killed you.

Imagine saying haki conquers all then proceeds on using full devil fruit zoan form ability to be the main thing in your ultimate final attack.

Etc..

I don't know if Oda has fallen off since I kinda like Wano's story. I think powerlevel scaling and planning battles that involves a lot of characters are simply just not his strength.

Other than Wano, I don’t see any bad standouts. The standard/common arc has always been around the same quality, some of y’all just grew up hard. Egghead’s one of the most exciting arcs so far because of the new pacing.
Stop looking at prets with nostalgia glasses, if you analyze the arcs, you’ll notice the general level of writing from Oda hasn’t changed in post-ts. Post-ts only looks a lot worse to some of y’all because your brain starts to notice his writing patterns resulting in burnout from reading his manga. That is the issue in long stories, either the story declines hard or doesn’t really improve that much which would also be perceived as a negative.
I was reading pre skip arcs again and they are much superior imo. More focus on strawhats and better pacing

I recently re-read Alabasto too. It only has that old One Piece charm in my head, nothing really special about it storywise though. The old arcs of course would be more focused with SHs, it’s establishing the world in baby steps through their lens. That is the natural progression in long stories. One can’t expect the same in postskip when the established characters and plot lines increased in volume, if the SHs just keep running around in a vacuum space then the story would take even longer to finish. That kind of formula would get boring too, you only miss it ‘cause it’s gone. It would be pretty much be gag-centric interactions between SHs anyways, most of them if not all of them are one-dimensional characters (without much room for development).
