General & Others Has Oda's motivation gone down?

#1
So this isn't a thread to hate on Oda. I know full well that we're not entitled to a certain number of chapters a month and I think Oda can take however many breaks as he sees fit as long as its not on the level of togashi, where hunter x hunter fans question if he will even be able to finish the series before he dies.

But recently, one piece has effectively shifted from being a weekly series to being a bimonthly and I think we can all feel the toll this has had on the series. Oda says that this is due to the pandemic and to a degree I understand that.

However, I have noticed that one piece is the only major manga that has made a full on transition to bi-monthly due to the pandemic, at least to my knowledge. While there have been more breaks as a whole in jump and other manga publications, most manga have been able to keep up with a weekly schedule. Boku no hero is really good with this, so is black clover and chainsaw man.

Even attack on titan was able to more or less get back to schedule after a hiccup due to the pandemic. So I feel like this transition has had less to do with the pandemic in general and more to do with Oda.

I think Oda honestly might not be as motivated as he used to. While the pandemic probably has something to do with the delays, I don't think that its the only reason we are getting more breaks. Oda has been drawing one piece for over 20 years, his career has put a serious amount of stress on his life, and has hurt his social life. Furthermore, the series still has a few years left until its completion, and sales have been steadily decreasing throughout the years with Oda's near invincible sales record even being beaten by Demon slayer in recent years.

I think all of this has culminated in a lack of motivation for Oda, which is why one piece is one of the only mangas in jump that had scheduled breaks pre-pandemic and why it is one of the only mangas in jump that has transitioned to being a bimonthly due to the pandemic.

And I fear this might get worst. I don't think Oda would ever pull a full togashi or otherwise do something that would hurt the fans, but I wouldn't be surprised if Oda announced that he'd no longer be working on the art and instead would focus solely on the story.

Guys....his breaks have been consistent for almost 6 years now. The only reason for the ADDITIONAL breaks is due to:

- 2 COVID breaks in April/May because he works Analog and not digital. He WARNED us about this

- 3 Jump breaks May, July and August for Holidays and the Olympics day which was canceled but already planned off week.

Cycle those in with his scheduled breaks every 3-5 chapters, which he was given in 2014 on because he had gotten extremely sick then and was out for a month. Shueisha does not want Oda getting sick due to exhaustion, pressure or stress. Nothing actually has changed. And no, his motivation hasn't gone down. He repeatedly talks about how excited he is to continue drawing Wano and the arcs beyond. The ending of OP is his prime motivation because its what he's wanted to show for 23 years and counting.

You can have your opinions about the arc, but IMO it has more than delivered and isn't even remotely over yet.

Ever since new world arc begin, the story is okay and the pace and world building are really slow, i dont even care anymore about dragon, vegapunk or im sama it takes too long to reveal, dragon is appeared in logue town about 10++ year ago and we didnt see him doing anything, even major fight is off panel or just small skirmish,

I do love one piece and i wanna finish it
One year hiatus is fine
Or Oda should continue one piece in novel
Forget about fights, power scalling or cliche nakama power, The only thing i care about one piece is plot and story right now

This is dumb, why do people still say this kind of stuff how does needing breaks for his physical and mental, him having more breaks isnt proof that oda has less motivation to write on piece its him being 45 years old who was a chain smoker for alot of his life,I may get in trouble by saying this but god damn Im tired of seing this shit just shut up you saying this shit makes you look like a stupid ungrateful fan who wants to make drama when there is none.
Boku no hero is really good with this, so is black clover and chainsaw man.
compareing 23 year year old manga to a manga that have been only going for 6 years the longest that have younger mangaka terrible comparison.

He probably is just being extra carefull with the pandemic, a huge break after being sick is much worse than 2 breaks a month. And unlike a lot of authors, he can take breaks whoever the fuck he wants...hell, his editors might have pushed for him to go on more breaks for all we know.

One piece hit a new sales recod in 2020 and the popularity of both the anime and manga have been steadly increasing over the years, specialy in the west, soo wtf are you on about the sales going down? Saying demon slayer beat them in sales and thus its going down is honestly, a very missinformed oppinion, i'll tell you the reason why Demon Slayer sold soo well when the anime was airing:

The manga is shit, it has average art, nothing revolutionary or new about its story, character development is rushed and the fights are not that well done...But i will tell you what it HAS. It has an anime made by ufotable that managed to improve EVERYTHING the manga did, they made the boring fights in the manga interesting with amazing animation and the god tier sountrack and huge improvements to the pacing fixed a whole lot of problems with the story. Soo a lot of people became fans and decided to buy the manga, the thing is, since they are new fans they bough all the volumes previously released at once, resulting in a massive inflation in number of sales for that manga. You just have to look at the most recent sales numbers to realise its numbers droped a LOT.

By the way i sometimes think that Oda lost his motivations to write about the Strawhats,he enjoys more creating new characters and develop them, thats why we had backstories for people like Senor Pink or why characters like Law and the Scabbards often get the main focus
