Yugioh did it better, you could fell the tension when pegasius was beating kaiba with the white tune dragon. It didnt made pegasius less intimidating either. The execution is what killed gear 5, oda failled to keep luffy intimidation while using tune force, too much gag face, even tom and jerry have more tension than G5. When jerry plan revenge against tom you know tom is finito.

I really don't see any hype in Luffy upcoming fights honestly.
Oda will of course create ridiculous scenarios where he looks as if he's in disadvantage despite the god tier DF.
(With an asspull happened and asspulls will be used to regulate it)
About the design only it's ok tho the smiling can go to "cool" to annoying plus it can kill any tense moment.

So I’ll preface my response with, I haven’t read any of G5’s fights or anything. I’m only going to be speaking on tha mode itself etc. so jus really not how it fights
I didn’t like it when I heard it was introduced not do I like it now. I know people are going to say “but we got that one singular panel in Skypeia bout it” abut that’s jus it. G5 was destined to be a thing, we jus didn’t know if it was gonna be a mode like G4 or Luffys actual awakening. No one could’ve/would’ve guessed that it would be an entire different fruit…..
Oda could’ve easily had G5 do tha same thing as it does now and not make it this Mythical Jesus fruit….like legit tha same abilities and what not and never named it tha Nika Nika no mi. Other than Skypeia Nika hasn’t ever been mentioned iirc for tha whole series. So yea, to tha VAST majority of people it feels like a huge asspull and takes away tha whole underdog that got lucky and persevered to get where he’s at. Luffy at this point jus a generic destined one MC with NOTHING unique or special to em. This is deadass how Naruto went when we got into tha war arc lmao. Naruto went from that loser kid who tries hard to tha reincarnation of Jesus Christ himself and I mean that borderline literally
Then with how G5 was able to RESTART Luffys heart and bring him back to fuckin life. You legitimately have to question whether Luffys wins/fights or accomplishments are even his own….or did tha Lord and Savior Nika backpack him for tha last 20+ years. Cause we’ve seen that tha fruit can and will operate independent of Luffys will. So what’s to say it hasn’t been doing that against: Crocodile, Lucci, Moriah, Enel, Kaidou(obviously) etc. like this has basically turned Luffy from a character to jus a vessel of some prehistoric god to finish what he couldn’t before his got his shit smoked

Till this moment I still hate it with every inches of my body, And on top of that, I hate the casual/kids/brats/hype train even more.., these fanbase is awful lot in numbers and they're the sole reason Oda could get away with every bullshit trash writing in every turn, F*ck'em, seriously.., they will literally eat Oda fresh shit out of his butthole.., F*ck this turning the world strongest creature into a f*cking joke of a fight. I'm not Kaido fan and still..I could feel the pain, imagine that.., People should already realize this, Oda isn't invincible, he wrote trash story many times, and I believe the editor won't have the guts to tell him NO because it's selling out anyway.., I F*cking hate this..
The final moments of G5 vs Kaido and G5 vs Lucci were very good in my opinion.
I believe the problem with G5 was the introduction chapter. Oda wanted to show off how "ridiculous" the power was, hence there were many exaggerated moments.
G5 Luffy vs Lucci felt more natural and to core of old school Luffy fights. It was somewhat serious but still goofy.
