How did you get into One Piece ?

#21
Don't know first time when i watched it. But i do have some memories of watching a kid whose arms can stretch in the Past.

Bt i only gave it a complete try in 2016, thn caught up during DR arc and been reading weakly since.

Did your opinion change on it through these years
Yes it did. I used to find it amazing a year or two back, now i am basically reading it only cause i am active in here. I find it mediocre and borring at times. Not even interested in characters as much i did before, Oda did poor job with em post ts.

I got bored so I decided to watch One Piece LOL. I start watching it in 2014 along with Naruto Shippuden, HunterxHunter, Attack on Titan, etc and start reading the manga in 2017.:kayneshrug:
oh lol interesting

I only dropped the manga at WCI and Wano for a while cuz writing became too boring

yea Manga is far better anime after EL have major pacing issues not to mention the animation

thanks :yearight: lol this remind me before watching OP

I asked in anime group which long anime is better to watch between OP and FT
ironically most ppl there said FT over OP :feelsokeman:
I've never watched it and i probably never will.I've heard there is too much friendshit power.I hate that.:gonope:
Fairy Tail? I've watched circa 250 episodes then gave up. It has its pros and cons, depends what floats your boat.

Man, I was such a brat when I got into One Piece, it's so hard to imagine being a teenager now. I think this was 15 years ago (????). As it was one of the Big Three, I had to check it out.
I had prejudice against OP for so long for its style. I thought it was weird looking and ugly, compared to Bleach and Naruto. Oddly enough now I adore Oda's style, I guess I got very adapted to it and its charms. <3
What's wrong with Fairy Tail LOL?:mihugh:It's probably the greatest anime/manga that I have ever watch/read in my life LOL.:sanmoji:

yea, up til WCI things were going well
but so much dragging these days and convenient plot stuff, it is just average at best
I read for the characters I like but other than that I don't have high hopes for this arc

Really??????
Uh well. The characters are too one dimensional and superficial. The plot is not connected enough for me to continue, there is very little tension. I don't hate it though; the good arcs are cool. For people who like chill adventure, it's perfect.

I started reading One Piece in the summer of 2016. I always knew that it existed, but I dismissed it because I didn't like the art style much and I found the voice acting for Luffy to be particularly obnoxious.

However, what got me into the series was actually the advertising and the trailers for Movie Gold. It made the show look really hyped and I felt like I was missing out on a whole adventure. So I finally decided to check out OP.

Watched DBZ on Toonami as a kid, then Shonen Jump came to America in 2003...I saw it at a bookstore with Goku on the cover, so I asked my parents to buy it (I was 13 at the time). After reading Dragon Ball for the first time as opposed to watching it, the next thing in the magazine was the first chapter of One Piece. I was hooked, and I started reading it every subsequent issue.

Maybe around 2007, I learned that the series had progressed way, WAY further in Japan than it had in America, so I found a way to read the fans-lation online; think SJ USA was still in Alabasta, so I read Jaya, Skypiea, Davy Back Fight, and Water 7 online before catching up halfway through Enies Lobby. Been week-to-week ever since.

Did you adamantly catch up with the series or did you start off from the latest chapters/episodes? :D

You are a PRETTY fresh fan!! It must be crazy to read so many chapters all at once.

That incredible feeling when you discover something, sometimes I wish I could go through it again with OP.

How did you get into OP or find about it ?
And when did you start watching it ?
I was a kid at a sleep over, I wanted to watch DBZ but my friends told me they wanted to watch One Piece first. So I watched two episodes and begrudgingly liked it, then watched it on my own. The 4kids dub stopped and I stopped following it, until like... 2014 or 2015, when I was told to read it by a bunch of people.

So I did, IIRC caught up right around the Boundman reveal. Maybe a little after.

For me I have known OP since I was young but only decided to watch it in like 2017
Because my friend used to hype it for me a lot ^^
Sometime around late 2015 my best friend kept bugging my about it, at the time I wasn't even into anime that much, and had only seen DBZ on Cartoon Network and Naruto on Netflix but he was a certified weeb.

So after constant bugging I checked out first three episodes and got hooked and soon it became my favorite anime. Then around 2017 I had already caught up with anime and pacing was trash and didn't feel like watching it weekly so I started reading the manga.

Now I think One Piece is trash.
