Maybe but its completely different to me. Like beating Ace was to prove his strength and that gave him the Warlord status and he could have just killed Ace, he didn't need to trade him for becoming a warlord.
He was overconfident against them and that's whatever but he isn't an idiot when it comes to plans even if they don't always work out.

He would have needed to know that they want Bonney alive for a possible trade to even occur to him, right?
He wouldn't have went - they will trade an expensive warship for some random pirate so they can execute said pirate, instead of just letting me kill her.

Blackbeards a great villain, especially in how he progresses compared to Luffy. He's a true pirate, and while not honorable, his dirty tactics fucking work.

He didn't know Bonney's age, but he was still going to throw her to Vasco and Devon once she refused regardless. Blackbeard iss a villain, but is likely to prefer his women grown up and consensual (because its implied he has a harem).
