I find it odd how Oda would give Kid and Law a power up against big mom only for said power up to have a massive downside. imo, there has to be a way to bypass the stamina restrictions of awakening. Otherwise awakening in general is just a shitty power up. Law even said that using it ensures he'll lose the battle.
So how does one use their awakening for hours like katakuri? Well if you compare katakuri's use of awakening to doffy's, you'll notice a stark difference in use. Doffy's awakening was legitimately his trump card. He only used it when he was pushed to his limits by gear 4th(and after taking gamma knife) and when he does use awakening, he goes all out. He turns entire towns into strings, creates giant tentacles of string, and ultimately has a more flashy awakening than kata.
Kata on the other hand just creates one or two arms from his awakening, he uses it much more conservatively. Yet, he is able to use it for hours whereas we have no indication that doffy is able to do the same. The fact he waited so long to use awakening indicates this likely isn't the case for him.
So perhaps the key to mastering awakening is to limit the output of one's awakening. While this might sound like a massive nerf, it can still be an extremely powerful ability if used creatively. Like for Law, perhaps awakening doesn't drain so much stamina if instead of using it to do internal damage, Law merely used it for intangibility. Full body anesthesia could honestly be more effective than going all in with shock wille.
In Kid's case, instead of using the maximum output for awakening in order to damage big mom, he could instead assign a weak charge to the ground. This wouldn't do much, but it would allow him to fly using magnetism(repelling the ground) and could allow him to manipulate the ground with magnetism as well.
Ultimately, I don't think it makes sense for the awakenings of these powerful devil fruits to be one and done moves, and I especially don't expect that to be the case when they are up against big mom. Doffy ridiculed Luffy for having a timelimit on gear 4th, which indicates that awakening might not take such an awful toll on stamina if used properly.
