More likeable, better goal, far better personality, better moments, better symbolism and funnier and just someone who resonates with me far more than Gon. One Piece being far longer also has played a part in me being attached to goofy a lot more. G5 was dogshit but other than that, Luffy is a really great character. Gon is bang average MC who's carried by his dynamic with Killua

No one cares about Gon himself in itself and beyond good and evil

Chimera is extremely overrated too. HxH prior to the election arc is honestly a bunch of overrated mid

Hunter exam: Mid
Heaven’s arena: Bearable
Yorknew: Decent
Greed Island: Garbage
Chimera: Great but really overrated

Honestly felt like dropping it but the election arc was surprisingly more interesting than all arcs prior to it especially with the Killua/Alluka plotline

Then the goat Kurapika comes in and saves this manga. Succession Contest is one of the best shonen arcs ever and i’m loving every bit of it. Guess that’s how much better a manga can be when you focus on the good characters (Kurapika/Troupe/Kakin Princes) rather than shit characters

I won't budget, HxH coates usual shonen tropes in a nice coat of painr, but it's just as shallow as all the others.
You ain't outlined anything, unless you can explain how zetsu is different from hiding your ki in dragonball and not the same exact thing.
How nen powers are different from devil fruits.
HxH is maybe a 6 in a sea of 4, and the fact that the author is a lazy bum with no plans for his own story (just like YYH) makes it even worse.

Bro don't disrespect Yu Yu Hakusho by comparing it with the snoozefest that is Hunter X Hunter. I started to feel the only good to decent arc in Hunter X Hunter were Greed Island and Chimera Ants tbh
Meanwhile gigachad Yu Yu Hakusho is only 176 chapters. A far cry from being too long, as well as the enjoyability aspect, the supporting cast aspect, it mogs tf out of Hunter X Hunter every single time. I never understood people who wished to glaze the mid that is Hunter X Hunter over Yu Yu Hakusho. Honestly Togashi should wrap up Hunter X Hunter, and give us like 25 more chapters of Yu Yu Hakusho for like a new final arc or something lmao

Yes yes cliches average shonen or whatever you say, at least Yu Yu Hakusho has far better worldbuilding and character interactions. I loved the story, and always wanted to know more about the world. I never felt this way with Hunter x Hunter till maybe the Chimera Ant arc. All quality following the near end of this arc, aka Adult Gon, made me feel like its a boring waste of my time.
Also I think Togashi ran out of creative juices when coming up with his main cast for H x H. Literally the three: Kurapika, Leorio, and Gon are bland asf. Only Killua and his family are a shining ray of hope in this series.
