Damn, what's up with all the Garp hate/downplay?
Let me count the fucking ways...
Other than the fact that he’s just the marine version of Luffy and oden? Aka trash?
How about the fact that Garp is the only high ranking marine who was not just singularly but doubly wrong about the World Government’s decision to execute children after Roger’s death?
Not only did Garp have absolutely 0 reason to comply with the WG slaughtering innocents like the other high ranking marines would have (as the other high ranking marines bar Aokiji actually mostly believe in the WG’s Justice to one extent or another while Garp does not), but Garp also spared Ace from this fate by adopting him, which means Garp was twofold directly responsible for the deaths of thousands of babies being in vein.
Garp only joined the marines because he cares about freedom (sorry, I just threw up in my mouth for a second) so you’d think he’d oppose the slaughter of innocent children unlike Sengoku who was bound by his sense of duty and justice(wrong as he may have been) or like Akainu who would’ve probably been murdering babies with his bare hands and would’ve been unapologetic about it, Garp had no reason to comply with such a horrific order but did so anyway.
And then by saving Ace from that fate, he insured that those thousands of children effectively died for nothing. Great job, Garp the shitstain.
All of this might be something I’d look past if Oda didn’t constantly portray Garp as some righteous ever-awesome marine hero. Garp is morally worse than Akainu, as at least Akainu thoroughly does what he believes in, unlike Garp who just doesn’t give af about the deaths of thousands.
I could go on and on with reasons Garp is a dried-shit-stain-chafing-my-asshole of a marine, but I’ll spare you from any further rant. Lol
