Togashi wants to flesh out everyone's thinking. "Okay" I guess, even though sometimes it doesn't feel necessary and it would actually be better if he was concise because characters would look smarter instead of rambling their nonsensical inner-monologues.

That's for the dialogue. Now concerning the whole plotlines. I actually think we're moving forward. It's just that while some stuff is being dealt with, other stuff emerge. Some characters and princes die and then more characters are introduced.

Pacing isn't about the how many chapters have been totally published but how quick the plot moves forward.

You won't see a whole volume of protagonists running around to the upper floor where the main-villain is hiding in HxH.

If you re-read the arcs again you see how chapters fit and make the story very enjoyable

But around 2021-22 I realized that each manga offer something unique. It is Togashi's story and he can do whatever he wants. There can be some things I absolutely love and some things I hate. The same goes for One Piece.

I reread last 30 chapters and this arc is not as bad as people think it is. Sure, it could be concise, at least by 10 chapters.

But on a positive note, if all of the princes are going to be major players on Dark Continent then it is good to establish them now. We would be familiar with their personalities, their bodyguards, the cards they have, you get the picture.

Otherwise, it will be like JJK where Gege had to set aside his 98% of the cast to do a chapter review and breakdown Gojo and Sukuna's moves.

You can open One Piece threads and find people complaining about similar things.

You can open JJK threads and find people complaining about rushed ending.

You can open CSM and Kaiju No. 8 threads and find people complaining about lack of world building.

You dummies, this is the shit that makes this series great. There's so much tension build up in this arc it's crazy. You feel it in almost every character interaction and at some point this tension bubble is going to burst and shit will be so much more amazing because of that. I haven't felt any tension at all in One Piece, like ever. You basically know how every arc is going to go right from the start. Maybe you get one little lore drop at the end of 2-3 years of an arc lol.

LOL, Hunter Hunter masterpiece is secured, the arc progressing means MORE goat developments, leading to Dark Continent the thing the author wanted to write the rushed Yu Yu Hakusho end, I believe he didnt peaked yet.

This is a new approach (again, relative to anything he wrote beforehand) and it's clearly very divisive. People have come up with entire charts, lists, and Excel spreadsheets to keep up with the characters, their allegiances, abilities, and agendas. That doesn't make it inherently bad but it's incredibly difficult for most people to follow and retain interest in.

Game of Thrones has a far more cohesive story (when referring to the books and even the show) because we have a set number of POV characters. We see and interpret the world through their eyes and that's very manageable when there's a fairly small number of them. In this arc we switch between members of the incredibly large (and still growing) cast every other chapter.

Not only that but we're also expected to remember Scrub Guard #6 and their random Nen ability because it may or may not come into play 10 chapters down the line. It's just too much for 95% of readers to keep up with.

Tbh I think that's part of the charm. It is supposed to be complicated (although let's be honest, it mostly is because we forget about it after years without new chapter lol).
