Not being top 10% of the world ≠ being a 'loser'
Pretty much what I'd tell anyone.
In fact, I always ask the question to those who are despairing over their worthiness: "What does success mean?"
It's a simple question, you might proffer, but I think not. Lots may consider success determinable through comparison with others, for what is more affirming than say, your position compared to your neighbour's?
Yet in my mind, success is internal. We seek so much validation from the world around us that keeps on churning, distracted by it's own worries. Success is always personal. A man (or woman) may feel like a humble home, a secure job and a loving family is the grandest treasure, whilst billionaires may remain uncontent.
That is not a statement on any form of virtue, nor that material desires are wrong. I am simply saying you, not anybody else, determines what it means to be successful. You need not be the 1% to have a happy and fulfilled life. You need not be the best to have your heart full.
...Maybe I'm prattling on now but
@Monkey D Theories, don't fret. Despair is our own greatest enemy. Find the road you want to walk, one that you have discovered and not one that society tells you is desirable. Discover your values and your, as Luffy might say it, treasure, and set forth to claim it.
