Wym, I'm learning from a mistake. Oda has confirmed to me today, that doesn't care about consistency or logic in his illustrations one bit. I'm not gonna act like GB having a bokken is not in the realm of possibility.

Yeah Oda can't really be predicted sometimes. His nonsense always reaches new heights just when we think he's reached peak stupidity

There's many reasons why Green Cow is very unlikely to have made it himself (in case it even is a black blade).
There's no way you can forge a black blade without CoC. And he doesn't have it. He's just your regular DF merchant type that got his hands on a powerful fruit.

Aside from the merchant nonsense and the CoC nonsense, this Is the answer:

... it doesn't even make sense for Oda give him a sword like that, let alone create a random samurai just for Greenbull to have stolen a sword that he doesn't even use properly.
Simple as that.

If he has one, you simply made a great mistake.

And after Imu's reaction should already be obvious. Not to mention Aramaki always talked about not wanting to fight right there the whole RHP.

in anime its not black its not consistent just like Nasjuru's Sword let him use that blade first or wait for colored manga
also his sword shape is weird i won't be surprised if its a wooden sword
Anime chose to draw the only color It could not be. In manga was black four times (two scenes that were kept the same even in volumes):

And recently we even had a drawing from Shueisha:

A Bokken, while theoretically possibile, has a problem: It doesn't have the hamon, and Ryo's balde has It.

Not against GB's blackblade but him having it is so random. Dude hasn't even touched his sword yet. His fighting style doesn't fit for a sword user either. Would make more sense to give a Blackblade to Fujitora.

It'll be brown in the official color manga. It's a Bokken/Wooden sword.
Finally after a year of debate someone uses this argument, this calls for celebration
That is the only possibility aside from a black blade, and was my original thought but I changed course at one point and now think it is in fact a black blade.

But there’s an issue, the hamon
The hamon of a blade is created during the quenching process (yakiire). During the differential heat treatment, the clay coating on the back of the sword reduces the cooling speed of the red-hot metal when it is plunged into the water and allows the steel to turn into pearlite, a soft structure consisting of cementiteand ferrite (iron) laminations
The fact that there is a hamon means its a steel sword

Goddamn why do these swords look like walking sticks
Oda should do a better job with their design

wooden sword is such a bad cope
1. Not only because wood can't have hamon
2. But because Aramaki is wood itself. He doesn't need to carry a wooden sword, he would just create one. Just like Kuzan doesn't carry an ice sword and Kizaru doesn't care a light sword.
Carrying wooden sword is pointless for a wood man.
